DID YOU JUST SEE THAT FINISH!!!
Wow, that was rediculous.
Adere flying behind Pirtea, who thought she had it wrapped up, for her second consecutive victory!!!
WOW - this will remind you never to celebrate before it's over!

Adere is my new hero. What a gutsy run. Absolutely incredible.
Yeah it was rad. On the CBS broadcast you could see Pirtea coming down the stretch, generally celebrating, and you could literally see this dark silhouette round the bend at f#cking full-throttle. The announcers, and I'm sure most people at home, basically had to say 'no f#cking way is that her. OK, yeah, it's her.' It was great. Ten seconds earlier, the announcers were already talking about how Pirtea would look back at this win as as old woman and smile. Nuh-uh.
well it was interesting that the chick on the truck following the race ... said adere is looking better now.. after she hit that bad patch.
Then ... as the guy.. above me posted.. i saw adere (out of focus on the picture) with the white head band. She was swinging wide around the last left turn to the finish line. I mean... she was perfect in execution... she stayed on the right side of the coarse while the pirtea chick was on the left.
Adere just pulled everything out and.. i have to wonder if the pritea even saw adere until she crossed the finish line to the right of the tape.
This was the weirdest marathon finish. Remember what happened to shami at the world half marathon champs where he was celebrating and got passed. But that was at least a race.. this was all but over.
Adere collapsed after the race.. she was so exhausted at the line she could not nudge over to break the tape that was being held for Pritea.
Wow.. Dramatic!!!

WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR PEOPLE TO LEARN HOW TO SPELL THIS WORD?!
to put in that kind of move at the end of a marathon is the true mark of a champion.
Here is the correct link for that article:
Is there a video of this amazing finish available somewhere? The link in the original post isn't working for me.
All the video is here.

lighten up dude. Your world is not affected by this. You obviously knew what was said and what intended. Therefore he communicated with you. Are you always perfect? Why are you so anal about this type of stuff?
I agree that ridiculous ought to be spelled correctly. "Rediculous" looks like something ought to be diculous again.

Pirtea had too much college education. She took to gospel Satchel Paige's saying, "Don't look back: Something may be gaining on you."
That is the best video link for both finishes. On the WCSN coverage we didn't get to see the replays when the coverage was live. Thank you wmand.

This is absurd. This word is spelled wrong so many times it's nuts. No one is perfect, but seriously - "rediculous"?
Cmon.

Don't worry, you'll never be in that position.
That was strange. Surely the crowd was yelling at her to look back.
I can't say that I would have done things differently. If I thought that I had an "insurmountable" lead, I probably would have started prematurely celebrating too. She just wanted to savor the moment. Heck even the announcers thought she had it in the bag, and they knew where the other runner was.
Pritea may have thought they were cheering because she was the first women. I'll bet the roar was for the the charging Adere. Pritea listened to Satchel Paige. Switzer was the one who conceded too early not the other two in the booth. The gal on the course said there may be a chance. Listen to the replay. I always like to, at least, hold my position in the last 100.
Man what an incredible race on both the men and womens sides! Finishing times are available, but some unofficial splits of the men's race are here:

Yeah it is nuts that people can't spell things like this.
Good catch... congranulations.
Reminds me of the woman Olympic snowboarder...
Pirtea is hot and only 22. She'll be in a few more newsreels over the years.
But a total rookie mistake on her part and I like how the cagey Adere went wide to challenge. Smart and courageous running by the two time champion.
