OK People.
What CC men team that doesn t have mens track would be first in NCAA in a meet just for them. Remeber they only have 5 scholarships, and they don t offer track in the spring, therefore recruiting is harder.
Anybody heard of JSU, Alabama?

5 scholarships, just for xc is a lot. there is no special race for these type of teams, nor should there be, so quit looking for special recognition. maybe if you trained harder, you could beat some more teams!
I don't know.

I have no idea who JSU Alabama is, but I have a hard time imagining anyone beats Portland in this scenario you've come up with. Who else is ranked that doesn't offer track?
Portland, American, Iona, Providence. None have track and field. They just train for cross country during the track and field season.
they have a race for this or at least did up until a few years ago
Seems to me Portland qualified 3 guys for the 10k on the track. I think your speaking about teams that don't have track at all like St. Louis, Dayton, San Diego, Northwestern, etc.

Colorado! hands down!

Nope, all those programs DO sponsor mens track and field as a sport. They look like they only hace XC because thats the only thing the coaches care about....
He meant the universities THAT DO NOT SPONSOR MEN T&F. Programs like San Francisco State...
So they sponsor track and field but do not have field events or sprinters? Is that so they can use more than 5 scholarships for cross country runners. That seems a little unfair for other cross country teams although they do get killed in track and field.
St. Louis does have track and field
St. Louis does have track and field
St. Louis does have track and field
Loyola College (Md) is currently ranked #14 in the Mid-Atlantic Region and there top 5 at the Navy Invitational (Louisville, Navy, American, Richmond, La Salle were there among others) went like this
Chris Heibell, 25:03
Terry Moran 25:41
Gian Caccia 25:43
Brian Parker 25:47
Keith Forlenza 26:46
I'd say they would have to be the best non track xc program in the country.
I second that, if you hadn't put it there, I would have.
with mike anderson id argue that dayton is a better team. i believe their top 5 goes
2430
2450's
2450's
26 low
26 mid
vanderbilt has mens and womens cross country but only womens track
