I really don't want to post on this thread, but the Website still says Sept. 9 (fewer than three weeks away), but the countdown counter is now at 73 days, 21 hours, which would be early November.

And has anyone contacted the local media to voice their concerns?
I sent Indy Star an email through the website. It would help if someone else did as well.
I sent one last night after seeing this thread..
Found a news article wherein the following was written:
...She also has directed and consulted on road races. Recently, she was in Indianapolis helping plan the inaugural Indy Classic Marathon, scheduled Sept. 8. Bozgoz's Army ties are strong

So they've had some real intent along the way.
Seriously- who is in charge of this scam- someone call WTHR RIGHT NOW! Email the news!

#5 is great!
The responsibilities of every participant:
1. Consult your physician.
2. Fill out the Emergency Information and Medical History form on the reverse of your bib number.
3. Listen to the weather forecast. Know the risks and plan accordingly when running during hot or cold conditions. Both heat-related injuries and hyponatremia are life threatening conditions. Adjust your race and hydration plan accordingly.
4. Develop and implement your individual plan for hydration. Be prepared to adjust your plan given the weather conditions and how you are feeling during the race.
5. If you experience or feel you are about to experience a medical problem, ask for help immediately. It is foolish and dangerous to abuse your body.
6. Help your fellow participants.

Oh, I also forgot about the Nordic Pole Walking event that was added as well:

OMFG. The Saga of the Indy Classic (tm) gets better by the day. Like I said earlier... this topic never gets stale.

I just talked to Jeanne Johnson. She was very nice and polite- a bit like Tammy Faye Baker. Her # is 317.557.5224. Seems they had a conflict with dome Colts deal.
How odd. The Colts play on Thursday night, 9/6. They aren't home again until 9/30. What could the conflict possibly be?
The Colts do play the Pats at home on 11/4, one day after the "new" marathon date.
Some parade or festival- I think the conflict was with the convention center? Dunno- give her a call- it was easy enough to get a call back. She did acknowledge there were a lot of rumors floating about- No Shit! If its not a scam- then its a few people way over their head.
Maybe they're handing out superbowl rings or something. Dunno. Thanks for going directly to the source..

This is what I heard as well. I also heard that the ones that are in over their heads will not listen to anyone who is trying to help.
There is a statement on the site about it now.
What a joke:
"Due to other events taking place in Downtown Indianapolis on September 8th, 2007 the persons in charge of medical could not or did not have the resources to cover any emergencies that could arise during the marathon. It was not expected for the Indy Classic Marathon to have so many participants registered in the first year of the event."
Such BS...they started this whole charade with the goal of 40,000 runners, and now that they have 12k runners, "it was not expected for the ICM to have so many partipants registered..". Yah right. UTTER INCOMPETENCE.
actually this is true, they've been dealing with medical shortages for some time now.
Still will be surprising if this race takes place
Oh brother. I surely wish I would have seen the other thread before I registered. Before I paid for airfare. Before I booked my hotel.
But I didn't.
I sent them some email... I got two snappy answers, actually. Neither was very fulfilling. I can get a refund, but ha ha of course my travel planning is my own issue.
They wanted 40,000. At 12,000 they had too many for medical support that day. WTF. Also, the emails are full of "this isn't our fault! It is the city's decision!"
Right. Seems to me that they would have done that planning BEFORE putting the race out there. 40,000. Yeaaaah.
Then again, I've also been scammed before by DC, Denver, AND Lakeshore.
Kick me. Kick me now.
They of course could do it without medical support. There are still many many races and even a few marathons out there without that. Sign a waiver and just get going!

Just to throw this out there, but there's the Circle of Life Mini Marathon in Bloomington, IN on Sept. 8th. It has prize money and has fielded decent past results. I'm glad I saw this and signed up for the Mini instead.
IndyStar now has it up...
and I LOVE that elite athlete entry...
Once again letsrun.com scoops the "real" media....
Give them a slight break? Of the 12k that apparently signed up- they wont have a clue if they had a postive or negative experience. Did anyone try and contact the mgt? I spoke to someone right away- and they were actually nice- just a bit out of touch with the reality of managing a marathon event, or a 26.2 marathon. I called with a morbid curiosity- wanting to put a voice to the crazed but entertraining rants on here- but it was just a frazzled person who is doing a poor job with a poorly suggested event that is scheduled for a poor weekend. I asked a bunch of questions- but I felt as though I was kicking Rocky Dennis in the face. I asked the person to please post as a courtesy to humanity at large the correct date- it was done within the hour. So I dont know. the situation is sad- but has anyone reached out to these people? Or did I just get lucky? As bad as they are- there were hundreds of posts from anonymous runners on here criticizing some special ed race mgt. Is this sponsored by Foot Solutions? The Dunkin Donuts people have got into race franchising people- thats the true fact of this event. The elite team is a foot solutions team- foot solutions is run by a franchising genius- they are trying to franchise marathons throughout the country. Check out the website :
