The manufacturer of the stuff, and I can't remember their name, had you mix the glycerol (an ounce or so) with a liter of water, and then drink that prior to working out.
XLR8 (not to be confused w/ a weight-loss supplement by the same name) was one of the easiest drink mixes I've used - you poured a couple oz. of the liquid concentrate into a water bottle, mixed w/ water, then sipped on it throughout the day before your race. But instead of constant trips to the restroom to pee out the "topped off" tank, the water got absorbed into your cells, like a big sponge.
It's supposed to be hot & humid for a local 9+ miler next Sat. - maybe I'll break it out and give it a trial. I've got a little over a bottle of the concentrate left, so I'm careful to deem a race "XLR8-worthy" (like Elaine from the Seinfeld episodes about "sponge-worthy" dates).
