I am watching PBS Lawrence Welk show and they actually seem pretty cool to me now. The women were very hot yet wholesome. When I was young I thought they were tragically unhip in the Led Zepplin era.
Is there anyway a show like that could be a hit in todays world ?

Back in the sixties we used to kick back, put Welk on the black-and-white 12" tube, turn the sound down, put a Stones LP on the turntable....worked every time.
Uh, if I could only remember what "worked" actually signified....
Love to watch the show. In particular like the shows from 1965 to early 70's. Everyone is all smiles and they do a good job hiding the stress of the times (Vietnam war) - no doubt under the auspices of Welk. Really like when they sing some of the pop hits of this time. Last week I watched to beautiful ladies sing 'Leaving on a jet Plane'.

I'm 37 next month and I love the Welk show. I watch it every chance I get. It has a nice calming effect on me. It reminds me of when I was younger and my grandmother would have it on.
There were some incredibly talented singers on there. I enjoy Jimmy Roberts the tenor. I found out he was a World War II hero.
In their day those Lenon sisters were smoking, especially Kathy.
Watch the show on LSD and then tell me its not kool.
