Scottsdale is a nice town. Downsides are too many Republican Chickenhawks and fake patriots, too many guns, too many mormons. Upsides are terrific babes, great weather, no snow, no humidity, no east coast pussies to slow down your workout, great Mexican food.
I once sucked off a man from scottsdale,
just to watch him cry.

1) Saguaro HS is under construction so unavailable. Arcadia (Scottsdale/Phoenix border) has the best track except for the sinkhole. Chaparral, Coronado, and Desert Mountain are all open. Scottsdale CC is a good facility. However, in all cases, you'll be subject to football practice schedules, and many teams go at night due to the heat.
The Bandidos run track workouts on Tuesdays (currently at Coronado) and also meet Thursdays and Sundays. Scottsdale Running Company has group runs; you could check their website for more info (Google it). There are a few other east Valley groups, although for the fifth largest metro area in the US, the Phoenix area is pretty disappointing for running clubs or groups.
2) There is a masters swim club at ASU. Also, Lifetime Fitness, which is an amazing although not cheap gym ($100+ per month), has a masters swim program... and pretty much anything else you could want. It's in north Scottsdale.

Scottsdale is the shit.
I'd like to learn more about Scottsdale, too. A friend in Paradise Valley has encouraged me to consider moving there, at least for part of the year. I currently live in Colorado Springs. I was thinking of splitting my time between Colorado and the Phoenix area, which sounds intolerable in the summer, but otherwise attractive.
Scottsdale so wants to be LA.

Just watch out for snakes. Seriously.
I grew up in Scottsdale and went running on the various mountain preserves in the center of Phoenix alot. One summer night after a monsoon came through I was out running and the mini flash floods from all the rain drove the rattle snakes out from their holes. It was an Indiana Jones scene in some parts as I encountered groups of snakes. As it got dark I dont think I have ever been more scared. None ever struck at me but just the loud noise they make as you come up on them freaks you out. Everystick on the trail began to look like a snake. That was the a one time thing in maybe 10 years of running out there. But you definitley come across them, they stay out of your way pretty good.
Scottsdale sucks. I am not going to tell you the good places in Arizona are because we do not want you there.

A word of caution, don't get too excited about the racing scene (if that is important to you) in Greater Phoenix....there is none.
my days of racing are over....just looking to stay fit....
