If you think the here-and-now is all there is, and this is as good as it gets, and if life stops being fun (ow, my leg hurts) it's time to end it...sure, why not?
That is trivializing the issue. Obviously, PAS should not be used for someone who simply has some unpleasant aches and pains. But what about someone in a vegetative state? Terminal cancer?
And yes, some people believe that this life is all there is and there is no utopic afterparty in the sky. And people who believe this obviously do not believe that their life is the sacred property of God Almighty. So why should they forced to prolong a life that has become no life at all?
It's funny to me that the pro-life folks are against euthanasia, because it's "unnatural" or it's "playing God". But they are perfectly comfortable with the idea of someone being strapped to 5 machines that keep them alive in the hopes that they'll miraculously spring back to life. What is natural about that? And speaking of miracles, I also think it's funny that "believers" call it a miracle when doctors do bring someone back, but when they can't and the person dies it means that God "took them home". Rationalizations and justifications.
