Anyone have any experience with getting help / healing a SI joint issue in the hip. I'm not having much luck and I'm getting a bit frustrated.

The sacroiliac joint can (for a variety of reasons) lose mobility - or lock up, or freeze up, or whatever you want to call it. A REPUTABLE chriopractor can get that loosened up and working agagin in no time. I know many people think chiros are quacks..and some are...but when mine was locked up it was causing IT band pain. After loosening it and improving the range of motion, the IT band pain went away in DAYS. Quickest recovery ever for me.
I dealt with the same thing and a chiro didn't help one bit, best thing is find a good sports med and find the root of the problem. Mine was focused around poor flexibility and a muscle imbalance. The trick for me was physical therapy and a few months off. Probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but remember every case is different. Just hang in there and get it taken care of sooner rather than later. It does get better.
I apologize for not being more specific. Instead of locking up, mine seems to come out of place, causing a pain in the lower groin (I assume from an awkward pull due to being out of place. When I would do fast intervals, it would tend to come out of place like this, although general running was usually ok. Most of the time the hip area feels weak now as well.
