Sad. So sad.
Sad. So sad.
Really, who gives a shit. It's baseball. It's there soley for the entertainment of the population. I mean I don't give a shit if everyone playing baseball is on steroids, I really don't. When you go to a baseball game you want to see people hit HOME RUNS. Not sacrifice bunt to advance the runner to third.
Baseball is entertainment. They should allow players to take HGH or whatever to keep them healthy and playing longer and better, under doctor supervision. Movie actors take things like this to help their carrers, why shouldn't ball players?
three away from tying, my friend.
Nope- he has hit two today, bringing his total to 753. Record is 755.
What exactly makes baseball a sport solely for the entertainment of the populus. Running is not because nobody cares about it in great numbers i guess? Why then, if the aim is giving people what they like to see would you drug test in any sport?
Allow drugs and people will run faster, jump higher, throw farther etc..........then (gasp) people would be more entertained.
idiot
Someone who types "populus" calls someone an "idiot?"

I disagree entirely. That's what constitutes good baseball and I'd love to see it. Sure, homeruns are cool and definitely a fan pleaser, but you can't win games by hitting homeruns. Case in point, the Cincinnati Reds.

You can give every runner, jumper, and thrower steroids and allow them to break every world record. I would debate it wouldn't help Track and Field's popularity ONE bit. People don't like Track and Field because people don't set records... it's a boring sport to watch and understand if you are not in some way emotionally invested into it.
I think sports like Football, Baseball, and Basketball should allow players to take SAFE medication like HGH under doctor supervisions so that they are not abused. Not all steroids are categorized as being "unsafe and harmful" to your body. The ones that are, obviously shouldn't be allowed. But the ones that can help an athlete player better in these major entertainment sports should be allowed to take them under appropiate supervision and should not be abused in a way that would adversely effect an athlete's overall health.
My two cents.

You're in the minority, by far. People pay tickets to watch a baseball game and they get there early to go to see batting practice.
I think "Con Vick" makes pretty good legit points... but like the earlier guy said, what constitutes a sport where it's okay to enhance performance and a sport where it isn't? I definitely agree that athletes should be allowed to take certain medications under strict doctor/trainer care, but at the same time it would seem almost subjective which sports allow this and what not. I'm definitely on the side of the fence that calls Football, "Sports Entertainment" and I would categorize Track & Field as "Sports Competition". I don't really have a set criteria for which is which (never really thought about it) other than my own feelings for each sport.

What's sad about a juiced-up hitter going deep against a juiced-up pitcher? Seems like an even playing field to me.
I think he could break the steeplechase record soon as well...
...no one cares here. This is a RUNNING site.
F*ck Barry Bonds.
