How do the zones in a beer mile work?
When starting, can you only move 1 meter up to the 1609 mark?
After the first lap, can you walk up with your beer to the starting line or the end of the transistion zone?
Thanks!

you have the 9m as the transition area. your beers must be drank in that area.
we always ran the relay zones as the transition area, and ran from just one meter up from the start of the zone, and yes we allowed people to walk and drink but from experience I would say you best bet is run--stop--chug--run.
Wait so from the beginning of the relay transition zone to the starting line or the end of the zone?
am goin to do this in a few weeks - cant wait should be a good grin, haha - sub 4 for the beer mile is b*%locks
I can't wait until the Beer Mile tradition gets coopted and corrupted by the penguin crowd. They'd put the beer in their CAMELBACKS and FUEL BELTS.
hahaha...that's pretty funny.
I knew a bunch of old codgers back in my hometown who would run a 5-mile-sixer every year. Meaning, they would all get together at this one mile loop on the roads. You were required to bring two things: a six pack and a DD. When the "gun" went off (which was usually someone farting) they drank the first beer, ran a mile loop, drank the second, ran a mile...etc. The sixth beer was drank after the 5th mile. First one done was the winner. Puking was allowed as long as you didn't stick your finger down your throat or something. Good times.
Tony:First off, I commend you on your use of the words "old codgers." Great English words that just don't get used frequently enough IMHO.Second, while there are lots of run and chug races out there -- I'm willing to bet that none are as prestigious as a beer mile. Let's face it...there just something really special about a mile race (reference Quentin Cassidy for a more in depth explanation). And, there's obviously really something special about beer. So, when you put the two together...it's quite magical.Hoovis

which track are you doing it at? I see Rockland in the name so as a word of advice stay away from clarkstown north, clarkstown south, and nanuet tracks because of security, and pearl river because of drunk high school kids who will try to fight you
