Is 4 months of relative rest enough down time that I should consider achilles surgery if I am still not better?

define relative rest? if you ran just once every week you may have never given it a chance to heal at all. mine didnt begin to feel better until at least 3 weeks with zero running (plus putting lifts in my regular shoes). when i tried to just "take it easy", running 1-2/week easy miles it just never got better.
Well, I have been testing it every week with an easy run of 3-5 miles, but I hardly imagine that was doing much to it.
i did exactly the same thing. it didnt get better until i really let it heal. i guess the 3-5 miler is enough to aggravate/inflame it while is in that state.
i'd def try 3 weeks with no running before getting surgery.
