Ohio University athletic department comptroller resigns??
Robert Andrey was the comptroller of the Ohio University athletic department. He was the guy in the suit equipped with all the pie charts and power point presentations to help explain as to why the second cheapest sport to run (track and field) in the Mid American Conference needed to be cut from the OU budget
. Last week Mr. Andrey was, I suspect, asked to resign after abusing his use of the University Athletic Department's credit card. On top of that, he is now the subject of a criminal investigation in Athens. Mr. Andrey was the man who told the 90-some studnets athletes, with pie charts, that Ohio University could no longer afford to keep them around. He explained to us over and over the ins and out of the four-year deficit spending in the athletic department, while he, "allegedly" was using the University credit card for personal use.
Now it seems the university will save his $74,000 salary and benefits, which one would hope would be enough to revive men's track and field. The AD says they may not fill the position after the resignation. So Mr. Hocutt, bring back men's track, possibly swimming and at least you will know where your money is being spent. Its the right thing to do, and possibly the only "right' thing to do you and Mr. Andrey and Mr. McDavis could to save what credibility you have left. But, then again, you can buy a lot of inspirational graphics for the football coaches offices for $74,000.
