For some of us it takes a while to find the right fit and feel. Sure enough, 1 year later, that model has been retired.
Why??

Two words... PRO-FITS
duh?
because certain shoes don't sell as well as others.
if it sells, they will keep it. if it doesn't, replace it with something else
No, I mean they just come out with model 2.0 of the same shoe, often keeping the name but changing the shoe.
they are trying to make them better. Sometimes is works. If they didn't try and make things better we would still be kicking it in '87 nikes
maybe not everyone liked to shoe, just you
not all runners are performance freaks like us. Some crave the newest line and a color change
The answer to all your questions is 'money.'
I don't think the changes are for the better. I have run in various models of the Pegasus since the very first model. It was my second favorite shoe ever. The original Nike Elite was my favorite. I worked at a running store during the eighties and ran in many many different shoes. But the Pegasus was always my favorite. I have moved back to 'minimalist' shoes as of late. I now like the Zoom Marathoner. I picked up a pair of Pegasus 2007's a couple of weeks back and I would swear that I was running in the Air Stab from the eighties. I have already moved them to my grass cutting shoes pile. I never liked the 'change because we can' attitude. As a running shoes salesman, I felt it made for less than satisfied customers on the whole. It is just to bad that shoes wear out as quicky as they do.
