Gebremariam of Ethiopia has a listed birthdate of 1984, but he looks a lot older than 23 years old.
Gebremariam has best times of 12:52.80 when he finished 3rd in the Rome meeting in 2005, and he recently ran 26:52.33 at Hengelo in May 2007, finishing 4th in the race, and third in the Ethiopian trial.
Gebremariam is a great runner, but I think he lacks that devastating finish, which would see him up there with Kenny and Sihine and others. He will be there at the bell, but doubt he can run a 53/54 second last lap. He looks better at cruising high speeds.
With that in mind, I think Gebremariam has a good future in the marathon.
Despite being not far from 6 feet tall, he has good economical form, and he should be good on the roads.
Any thoughts, comments?
