Hey, this might be a long shot, but my husband and I are going to France and Germany for about a week this summer (Aug 18 - 25) and would like to jump into a race while we're there. We're both race directors besides being runners and just thought this would be fun. We don't have a very serious itinerary or agenda while we're there, so we can spend a day of the trip driving to a race location if it's worth it.
So far, I have found nothing we could run anywhere in France (just an ultra in the Alps, which we would not be up for, and a couple of tris, which we're not willing to invest in). I did find what looks like a good race in Duisburg, near Dusseldorf, that is short and late in the week so that we would have a shot at actually racing it despite the travel side effects. It looks like a well-organized and well-supported race, so we'll probably do it. The only downside is that Duisburg looks pretty industrial compared to the nice countryside locations we are visiting the rest of the time, and it would be cool to be able to do a race in a more scenic area, since we are going there as tourists, after all.
So, questions:
- Is anyone familiar with the Duisburg Citi Run? If so, do you have any comments on it?
- Does anyone have suggestions for other races or where to look for other races? (I have tried Runners World, runtheplanet.com, ChampionChip, Google, coolrunning.com, letsrun search already.)
Thanks!
