I've always wondered about this-
My heart rate at rest is around 44bpm and my maximum works out to be 196.4bpm (using the formula of 214 - 0.8*Age)
When I come to do a steady run, say around 6mins per mile my heart rate will sit around 130-140bpm on the run, is this very low?
This is the bit I am interested about:
When I come to do a tempo, at sub 5min miles, my heart rate will hit around 170-175bpm after a couple of minutes then stay there for the whole period of time i'm doing the tempo.
Whereas when I come to do a session on the track, eg. 10 400s off 1min, My heart rate will also be hitting the 170-175bpm mark, but no higher?
I did a vo2 max test and my heart rate reached 189bpm in that just as I stepped off the treadmill, that means it can go higher, so why isn't it?
