It shows that they finished 5th and 6th in a good field. Edwin Soi has run 12:52 and finished 18 seconds off his best. If Teg crossed the line in 13:23, 18sec off his best is 13:05. It's ok.
This is such a lame excuse. The point is they ran crappy, period. 13:27 is 13:27 and it sucks. I'm so mad I can't see straight. I've been a supporter of Teg for years. I've made lots of great posts about him and always defended him. Who was the first to cheer when he ran his PR? Me. I even kept making good posts about him when he was running crappy at Wisconsin.
I just don't understand how he can do this to me. What's with the gloves? Were any of the Kenyans wearing them? I doubt it. Teg should have broken 13 by now and he should do it each race. Each race he doesn't PR again is a waste.

Ritz just ran a 69 second last 400 - that is pathetic! C'mon he just quit - jeezus, you don't travel all the way to Europe to close in 69 off of moderate pace.
Webb and Lagat are the real deals, at this point, everyone els is just a chump.

Ritz didn't close in 69 idiot......did you watch the race? He closed in 63-65 range. The leaders crossed at 12:14, ritz was well off the leaders.
Congratulations, "cash the reality check," you are today's winner of the AHI Award, which goes to the letsrun poster who best exemplifies the core letsrun forum attributes of arrogance, hostility, and ignorance.
Terrible.

Hah! Y'all have to admit, that one was pretty good.
woa, did anyone see the guy lifting up his shirt and dancing at the winners podiums? wtf?
ahh then he did more of the same old same old - even pace, can't kick - if he had run 69 seconds then we could have assumed that the pace was too slow and he just quit. now we have more of the same with him 11.5 evenly paced laps then a kick home with one more of the same. the same goes for the 10k 24 evenly paced laps then a kick home with one more just like the others.
I don't know, but that is total sweetness that they have an awards ceremony like that. Do they do that at all the GP meets?
What the frick? Powell ran the 4 x 1, but not the open? Sucka.
That is very-very fast for the conditions.
Did y'all see that? Powell ran completely out of his lane, behind the Brit guy (into the Brit guy's lane), then came back into his lane and passed him for the win. Injured my bootay!
Yeah, this is a guy who grew up in Kansas City and went to college in Wisconsin and he needs gloves to run a 5,000m in Europe in July? Okay, it was cool, but GLOVES???!!!??? It's a wonder he ever goes outside from October until May.
Oh, come off it, people! So he wore gloves. STFW?! A lot of people tighten up when their upper extremities get cold. He made the call to wear them. Get a life.
That race was supposed to go under 12:55 and if 13:1O was the best the leader could do, I would suspect under better conditions Ritz would have PRed and Teg would have been in the single digits.

I'm willing to bet the above poster is ttc. The argument was just too similar to his denial of crappy conditions at the USA 10K.
Look, if the winner won in 13:10 and is a 12:52 runner and the leaders were pushing fairly hard from the beginning and faded, you can assume that the conditions were crappy.
