The North Africans are at it again. Morroco and Algeria with 5 inside 3.35 between them snd thats without Moustoaui, Kaouch and Boukensa. Massive PB for Ali Belal his previous PR was 3.34.30. Good run for Teg aswell bodes well for the 5k

Moves him into the top 15 American performers. Just a second and a quarter behind Ryuns 1967 time and only 5 sec off the AR.

for a 5,000 guy that's fine.....and if run's one in late august he could go 3:32

That's a long 5 seconds but, yeah, it's an impressive performance. I think the most relevant thing (considering Teg's goals) is that this is faster than BK ever ran for the 1500.

Agree that as a 5000 runner he's in good miler company, Harbor,Lacy and Aragon all ran about that time.

What is impressive to me is that Teg did not break 3:40 until summer of '05 and has since knocked off 6 more seconds!!! (and he obviously does not train specifically for the 1500) I would have predicted that he could not run faster than about 3:36.0 and now he has "buried" that time!!! The young man has fairly quietly emerged into our best distance runner of the future in the U.S. If he continues to stay healthy, I think that he will run 3:32, 3:50+, 7:30, 8:03, and 12:52 (and 26:59) in the next 3-4 years. I think so too. He may be able to get on the level of mottram within the next couple of years.

Wow! Hacker was a stud!!! Teg has beaten his time; that is amazing. Teg's hs coach was also Falcons hs coach (where does Joe rank???) Those are two pretty goods ones to have worked with!!!!!!!

Sorry, Lukezic and Myers Teg is the number 3 US 1500 meter runner. Lucky for you guys he is not running the 1500.

I know, such vast, quick improvement over the last few years is hard to fathom. If he wasn't a goody-goody , dorky white American (like, I don't know Floyd Landis or Tyler Hamilton), you might even think he was on drugs with an improvement like that, huh? But since he IS a squeaky clean looking young white American, he must be clean.

Most of your predictions are reasonable, but he ain't running 12:52 (*maybe* 12:57), and probably ain't breaking 27:00 (probably more like 27:10).

Yes, you could be correct, but just two years ago, most people would have said that he would never break 13:10 because of his lack of leg speed!!!! Only time will tell.

Teg did not seem to have a problem with "jet lag". He is amazing and I wish him the best in his quest for WC and Oly medals!!!!!!! As his PR's continue to plummet, his confidence should only get higher!!!!

I predict Teg will go sub 12:50 before he is done with the 5k. If in the right race he will scare the 12:58 American record. He needs to get in a 12:50 to 12:55 race and it is possible

I am not so sure about a sub 1250. Only 10 people in history have gone that fast. I would not doubt that Teg could go about a 12:54 but any faster than that is just too unlikely. I bet the only people in the world right now who could give it a shot are the bekeles, Songok, and perhaps mottram. I would say eliud kipchoge but he seems to have moved up to 10k.

Augustine Choge should get a mention for a possible sub - 12:50.

atually ali ran 3.33 something in 2005 if i'm not mistaken
