it's a good book, but just get it from the library.
That book really wasnt worth the 20 bucks I spent on it. Just go to your local B&N on a saturday afternoon and sit down to read it if you want to.
you cheap ass bastards. you won't support an author with a running book, but will spend that much in a couple of weeks at a Starbucks type place, no doubt. shame on you.
Maybe Brant should have done a better job with the book... I just didn't find it very well done...
If the guy had asked about a book like the Perfect Mile I would have given him my full support for buying it.
The guy was just asking for an opinion... and we gave it to him.
Seriously, I support people who do good jobs, not people who just write about distance running.
It seemed to me like a human intrest story on Salazar and Beardsely (sp). I say you should get it. Perfect Mile made me fall asleep at points, though I did read Once A Runner before it.
BUY AND READ ANY BOOK put out for distance runners, by distance running, about distance running...support our sport and skip a few trips to Starbucks.
I would not buy it. It was not that good of a book.
The Perfect Mile was much much better.
I agree!
Also, "The Perfect Mile" is a wonderful tome. If you haven't read it yet, make it a priority; it'll teach you a lot about the history of our sport.
It's only $15, buy it and read when you have time. I thought it was ok, gave a little history about two great runners before and after one of the greatest marathon races.
