50-60 AC/DC songs are a good start.
I am not a big fan of the IRunners. Ipods just kill something about running for me. It especially bothers me when people wear them in races or when their running with other people.
I don't listen to the music when I run. I just wear it with the Nike + kit to track my mileage.

Some people wear them while doing some extra mileage on treadmills. The world is not all bad.
I am not a Placebo fan, but I really love running to Bitter End.

I have a variety of stuff, mostly rock music that would embarrass most people.
I used to feel like wearing an ipod would make me a 'recreational jogger'. Then I got out of college, and started training alone, and feel like the music has saved my running a little bit. Still don't wear it when running with other people, but I did win a marathon (Sedona 2006) with an ipod on for the first 23 miles.
I am really digging Snow Patrol on my runs lately.
Alright, you bunch of elitist snots, here's my playlist:
Placebo
Drivin' n' Cryin'
Smokin' Dave and the Premo Dopes
Kill Hannah
The Who
Monster Magnet
Iggy and the Stooges
The Sex Pistols
Neil Young
Enjoy your running.
I run with music for recovery runs and long runs.
I HATE people who run with music in road races, though. They are usually NOT ALLOWED for a reason, although nobody seems to care. When people can't hear what's going on around them, it makes them act even more selfishly. Example, running through a water station, some guy a few seconds ahead of me veers sideways to grab water, and then veers right back into me, with his iPod blasting away. I elbowed his water out of his hand. All this could have been avoided by leaving that thing at home on race day.
On easy runs I enjoy listening to music, whether rocking or mellow. On faster runs, I only want to listen to rocking music. Once running gets real hard or fast, I don't want to hear music at all, as it interferes with concentration.

14:43. bitch.
i agree i cant stand when you see someone in a roadrace with music. How can you focus for a race..but i like music on no brainer days
Ritz says he listens to music to keep his easy runs easy.
And yes, they shouldn't be worn in races. Grandma's did a fantastic job of educating people about and then enforcing the no headphone rule - less than 30 people in all the races went ahead and wore them and risked being DQ'd.
I had to laugh on the bus to the start of the half, 2 girls we sitting behind me and one said, "I did all my training with my iPod - I hope I can make it."
