I like a little peace and quiet myself.
I'd need to hear how bad these kids are before making a judgement, but my rule of thumb is before 8 am and after 10 pm they need to be quiet.
You wonder, are these rabbit eared neighbors or are these kids really that obnoxious? Glad I don't live there!
A small grenade launcher would work wonders. Just a misfire, a safe distance in the wrong direction. Tell 'em:
"Dangit! I thought I saw some a' them AL Qaides down there a bit!!! No harm done. Have a nice day."
Then spit some chewin' tobacco, tip your hat and walk back into the house.
The case was thrown out by the judge. But, how much noise can an eight and eleven year old make? Since the neighbor has been recording them for three years, they were only five and eight when he first complained. Sounds like the neighbor has a problem with kids.
Okay. Not knowing all the details, not knowing all the evidence, it's hard to say.
I have known people who were overly sensitive to noise. I may be one of them.
I have also known people who let their kids run completely wild. "Should I muzzle them?" No, lady, but maybe some discipline, or some education about how what *they* do might affect *others*, would be in order.

The neighbor's a douche bag.
maybe, maybe not
ever lived in a neighborhood with constant kid noise? it will drive you nuts after a while.
there needs to be some peace and quiet during the week for me.

kids under the age of 10 are louder than an Iron Maiden concert.
Are you people seriously complaining about the sound of children playing?
That is music to my ears.
I understand keeping kids quiet in certain circumstances, but it appears these kids were playing in their back yard.
at first I thought it some old cranky neighbor overreacting; but after seeing how about 15 neighbors, some with kids were all complaining, I realized that these noisy girls were well beyond 'normal kid playing noise'.
My rule is after 9 a.m. and before 10 p.m.
We had a neighbor complain about my nephew one time. He said that he sleeps during the day, and the noise kept him up. His wife later left him because she found out that he was staying up all night watching porn on his computer. I made sure that got broadcasted all over the neighborhood.
My favorite came a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday morning. I got up at a 5 a.m. for a 90-minute run. While still running about 6 a.m., I hear a lawnmower running. I round the corner to see some guy mowing his yard.
I thought, "Someone should call the police" until I looked into his driveway. Sitting there was a City of Fort Worth police car. The guy is a policeman, so you know calling the police wouldn't work.
I have 6 and 4 year olds. they are very noisy in our pool, but it is covered up by the non-stop rock music that i play. that way, my kids don't annoy the neighbors
I side with the fed up neighbors. Kids are kids, but parents should be able to have lots of freedom with their activity, w/o disturbing neighbors on another property line.

Live on a farm.
Kids, during daylight hours, should not be muzzled. It's part of life. Deal with it.

Ain't that the truth.
The problem is not with kids playing it is with these damn parents who let their kids do whatever they want. And when they are told "NO" they throw a fit. I'd imagine these kids run all over their parents and are little shits. Have you heard a bunch of kids scream at the top of their lungs every day? I'd call Social Services before I took them to court, that might shut them up.
They were probably from a really annoying part of long island. That would explain the loud annoying kids and the overreacting neighbors blowing the whole thing out of proportion
I'd do the ol' flaming bag of poo gag to that neighbor.
"He called the sh-t poop again!!!!!!"

You raise a good point!

During daylight hours kids on a farm should be working. There's always hay to throw. That usually shuts 'em up.
