I'm in the exact same situation as you bud........
I've had pf since october and i've been training on it since(~80-95mpw. only recently has it started to go away.
-time off definetly doesnt help. if anything it makes it worse.
-i've had the straussburg sock(night splint) for 3 months now. it helps some... but recently not so much.
-stretching your calfs is the most important thing. do it before and after every run.
-ice your foot after every run and take some ibuprofen.
-get some shoe inserts with arch support for your shoes when not running, i think they hurt more if you try to run on the though
-some trainer showed me a way to tape my foot to help on runs. i do this for every single run.
I ran really good pr's indoor, but the pf kept getting worse into outdoor. halfway through outdoor it got so bad i couldnt even walk after a workout or race. i still pr'ed, baerly. But i couldnt do any workouts bc anything faster killed the pf. i started tapings, icing, and taking ibuprofen after the season was over and since then it's been getting alot better. i'm even able to run striders twice a week (which i definetly couldn't do during track). Im at 85mpw right now and climbing without much of a problem. I really think its the tape on my foot that's making it so the muscle won't over stretch during runs.
hope that helps
