Speaking of former Hansons -
Did anyone notice Nick Allen ran 2:22 to get the "conditional" trials qualifier?

What does conditional qualifier mean? I thought the A standard was 2:20 and the B Standard is 2:22. You mean there is some wiggle room?

to fill out the field for the trials race.

I was thinking to fill out the field, but I could definantly be wrong. I thought they went deeper to get the minimum field . Just a total guess.

It is natural to wonder why a good athlete leaves his "team". If a major league baseball player left his team it would be discussed all over ESPN. It shows that there are people interested in the sport.
This isn't MLB or it's running equivalent. Moves made in AA aren't discussed on ESPN.
When did Travis Laird leave the team?
Travis was kicked off the team shortly after the US Cross Championships because he didn't agree with the training.
Why did Humphrey leave? with the trials coming up and all the success he's had
Luke did not leave nor is he planning to

Moen, Gaudette, and Eberly are all a few levels above Rizzo who is still there. C'mon...do you think Hanson's would cut those three and leave Rizzo. I imagine they have an agenda of some sort. Those three will still turn some heads down the road.
I think that you nailed the prob;em in your explanation.
Hansons are a MARATHON GROUP.
Moen has been there for 2 years and has never run a marathon.
Gaudette and Eberly finished over 2 minutes behind Rizzo at the Chicago Marathon.
If Gaudette and Eberly are a few levels better than my boy the Rizz, they certainly uderperformed in the event that is the most important to the Hansons.
My bad - missed his name. Thanks

Eberly had a thyroid issue before the Marathon, his training segment was only about 8 weeks. He debuted at 2:18 0r 2:19 the year before.
Gaudette suffered an injury about 3 weeks before and then 10 days before was in a car accident that broke a rib.
That isn't to take anything away from Rizzo who had a great race himself.
The reasons for the 3 leaving had nothing to do with being cut or being worst/better than other guys on the team. They all left on their own.
It looks to me like the Hansons are cleaning house. Neither Gaudette or Eberly have Olympic Trials qualifying performaces at any event. I would imagine that this woul be a minimum standard for an athlete to be kept in a program at this level. Whoever made the decision, it certainly seems to be in the best interest of the Hanson's program.

Dude, relax, just wondering what happened.
I am relaxed, I was just having fun with someone who couldn't think clearly.

Who really cares? It is not like we are talking about Hall or Meb or Culpepper or any of the top 50 runners in the US. If every 28:45 or slower 10k guy quit the sport tomorrow, it would not effect US distance running at all. So why do we care that these "never will be's" are switching camps or quitting the sport or anything else? If the Hansens can make these type of guys important to anyone on this board, then they are doing one hell of a job. When any of these guys drop a minute in there 10k, then I am interested. Or 10 minutes in their marathon.
I think it would be sweet if some big name NCAA guys came onboard at Hansons. McDougal, namely! I think, under the Hansons, McD could run 2:08 ultimately.
Nick ran well, a PR for him, but missed the sub 222 B standard. He's coaching at Wayne State and is completing his Graduate Degree is Sports Administration with an internship this fall. Not sure if he is will run a fall marathon or not. He's only 25, so he has plenty of time. Great guy!
They are still on the roster when I look...must have been a mistake.
Posted standards for the team are 14:00/29:00/2:20...but aren't set in stone...
I believe both have run at least that. Maybe It's possible that these guys just decided to leave the team? It's not that unbelievable. I'm sure Michigan winters can be a pain. It's not wrong for a runner to want to do things differently.
Alan
Any more up dates on these guys or new ones coming in. I seen jeff running in just broks stuff, eberly was in hansons gear at the dexter to ann arbor half last weekend, and moen was been running with some of the guys (in their logs on athleticore). Anyone know anything else, is moen really gone, why?
