Truthfully I gave up on the sport twenty years + ago. Sold the seats in section 12 that were passed down two generations. After the walkout and the first really obscene price hike opted out. From 30 +games a year to none. I didn't feel the sport was treating loyal fans the way they should be and drifted(rather quickly) away.
My friends avoid the topic-and BB-in general when I'm around cause I bring up the Ped thing and how I find baseball currupt. I'm highly critical of Systematic doping in my sport. Less so with the illadvised kid who takes a couple a tokes of hemp or ingests a incompletly labeled OTC cold tonic... but the Systematic use of PEDS in BB, football, bikeracing etc is so overwhelming it defines those sports and their organising bodys..
Back in the 80's I was friendly with pro players NY teams and we often had (private)talks about PED use. Hundreds of Blackbirds and assorted uppers in a cut crystal bowl in the clubhouse of one major league team just out for the taking helped me put it into perspective. It's a farce this baseball crackdown.
I'm sorry I really skirted the question. I just don't know what todays NY fan feels... but deep down they just don't care that I'm sure of. I'd venture the NY fans admitted defeat on the issue years ago and have adopted the "everyone does it, who cares" position in private at least.
I hope this post draws up an ubber fan or two. You know authentic actually worn by the player uniform shirt, beltbuckle, team creditcard,4styles of away and at home team jackets, logo on the dogdish fan to set me straight and draw me back to the House That Ruth Built..
I do miss the early(and late) season snow on my face and the smell of fresh rolled tarp in the air! 6 dollar Cracker Jacks make my day!!
