A. Bizuneh,
Interesting points. I didn't originally see the prize money. I applaud that. But there are still things that make me uneasy (and I'm sure others considering it). You say its the "best course" yet the website you direct us to still lists it as "the proposed course" and says it starts and finished on opposite sides of prominent train tracks. Isn't the course locked down yet (I'd hope so if you are calling it the "best course') its only 11 days away from the event. And isn't starting and finishing on different sides of prominient train tracks a disaster waiting to happen. Trains are always ahead or behind schedule (especially in Belmont) what if the train goes through during the race?
I thought Coach Simmons and Cabada have gone their seperate ways (and Cabada was headed to the midwest to train). Tell us if you have a different scoop.
Interesting that a 5k with only $500 for first prize would have an "elite athlete coordinator" but if so its a slap in the face to local NC talent if he is bringing in guys from Atlanta. (plenty of high 14 to mid 15 guys in western NC and the Charlotte area)
So given that Cabada is coming (and ringers from Atlanta) the meek prize money is no incentive. The course is still up in the air (according to the race website) with a potential train situation. And I have no track record on the people organizing this race. Tell me again why I should come run it as opposed to the other option that weekend. I can still be pursuaded.
