Thank you for that the430miler. Nash has never been to the finals.

I think Nash is one of the top three point guards of all time, along with Magic and Stockton. I don't think you can really compare guys who play different positions that easily, so I don't know where I'd rank him overall. That said, I have a hard time taking anyone seriously who doesn't think Michael was the greatest to ever play the game.
the430miler had a good run, but it's over now.
He doesn't even try to stay in character. His posts, which used to balance the fine line between absurd and plausibly stupid, are now so over the top that they are self-parody.
Oh well--it was fun while it lasted.
Agreed, it's like he's trying way too hard.
This thread is the end of the430miler for me... not even close to funny
its not supposed to be funny.
i am stating the physiological facts of basketball.
come on people! you agree with my running facts, why cant you conform to my opinion in a different sport??
for the record, steve was also a 2x state cross country champ in canada. he ran xc in the fall, and played bball in the winter/spring. he thanks his great running/xc ability and says it is the reason for his great basketball speed, and he was already in shape come basketball season due to him being a state xc champ in the fall.
I jumped off the bandwagon a couple weeks ago. It's not even funny now.

Wrong. He has been there several times with the maverics and several times with the suns. Each time, he was the primary reason for them being there. He made several game winning shots and several shots that took the mavs and suns into overtime at the nba finals. Its not nashs fault that someone else on his team f'd up and made them lose.
He deserves MVP again this year.
love steve nash, but you're wrong. he has never been to the nba finals. he has been to the conference finals.
Actually Nash played soccer

You know what, there were a LOT of us who tried to warn people when he first appeared on these boards!
We had seen more than enough of his childish antics on the DyeStat message boards, where he was "prolific" enough to get banned. With all of the immature garbage that is tolerated over there, that is quite an impressive accomplishment.
We tried to tell you that the novelty wears off very quickly, and that his over-the-top trolling is incredibly annoying. Now, people finally believe us.
Congratulations on graduating from the School of Hard Knocks!
I dont care what you say, I love his posts.
I am an avid runner and like to have a laugh from time to time, but 430's posts are very borderline and much of what he says is correct, though he adds a little twist in each of his posts.
I work for a telemarketing company, and my job is very stressfull. I am on the computer and phone all day long, and have opportunities to get on letsrun.com during work and relieve some stress. His posts always make my day, just when someone gets through yelling at me because they are on the "no-call-list" i get stressed out and turn to letsrun to see if my 4.5 minute mile running friend has posted anything new. He is and always will be the best message board poster out there, because his posts often have to do with situations that happen to us on a daily basis. Thank God for 430 and his way of making life seem like a running fantasy land.
Long live the430miler.!!!

What a surprise: a telemarketing specialist who drowns us in hyperbole! I'm sorry, but while SOME of his posts have been amusing, many more of them go well beyond the boundries of immature trolling.
For the sake of your bank account, I sincerely hope that you're better at selling your goods/services over the phone than you are at selling "the430miler."
i love steve nash but to say he's the greatest player of all time is ridiculous... and, just speaking about point guards, or to compare him to magic johnson is a joke at this point... i don't even think its fair to compare him to john stockton just yet. i don't really consider oscar robertson a point guard so im not going to conclude him in the point guard discussion. he was more of a scorer.
nash, like another poster said, is now in his third straight great year, after several good, all-star quality, years, and should be mvp again, although that award is very subjective. jordan only won it five times, when he was deserving of it probably every year from his third season until his last year with the bulls. shaq has only won once, which is a joke. duncan never gets his due and he's probably been the best player in the nba this decade. so talking about mvp awards alone when discussing who is the best player doesn't really stick well with me. nash doesn't have any titles and i think that is the measuring stick to being an all-time great, especially in the nba where one player can make a huge impact. if they, the suns, win this year, ill put nash in the same conversation as stockton to an extent, but stockton had much more longevity as far as years being a great player, and also was a top notch defender, being the nba leader in steals all time, both of which are huge factors when discussing "all-time greats". to continue on from that, nash has no chance of catching magic in "greatness". magic is one of the top 5 players of all time if you ask most experts. due to jordan's impact, many have forgotten just how great magic was. he took his teams to 9 nba finals in 13 seasons! thats insane. nash, when he's through, will be a top 50 player... im certain of that. however, will he be one of the very best of all-time, in the realm of jordan, bird, johnson, wilt, russell? no.
also, as far as who is the best player in the nba now, id go with duncan, nash and lebron. if kg was on a better team he'd be in the convo. as well. im not a huge kobe fan but you have to include him too. with kobe, i think its unfair he is compared to jordan... and by unfair i mean it is an injustice to michael. kobe is a great player, and scores alot of points, but he seems to score to build himself up... jordan scored alot of points, but was much more efficient than kobe and only had "huge" games when he needed to completely will his team to win. also, jordan was a great defender. but i got side tracked. speaking about the best players of today, if you're talking pure athletic ability, in the michael jordan vein, then lebron is the best player, followed by the aforementioned kobe bryant. they can do things that nobody else can, athletically... and if lebron gets the cavs to the finals then i think he's the clear cut top guy in this respect. however, if you're looking at fundamentals and efficiency, nash, kg, and duncan are the guys to beat. they play at a high level but do it fluidly, getting great stats across the board. lebron has to be thrown into the discussion when it comes to this as well. i'd also throw jason kidd in there except he is a horrendous shooter, and that takes something away from him. also... you can't forget about dwyane wade... however, lets see how he does once it is HIS team again, after shaq retires. before shaq left LA, everyone thought kobe was the second coming of Jesus... and that hasn't quite panned out as well as people would have hoped in the following years. another note on nash... he's among the league leaders in field goal percentage, free throw percentage, three point field goal percentage, assists, assist to turnover ratio... and his team wins. however, if you put lebron on the suns, i think theyd be just as good, if not better. its tricky comparing players because they all bring something different to the table. oh, and the best player of all time? definately jordan. bill russell is the ulimate winner and wilt chamberlain is the ultimate scorer in nba history... jordan was a hybrid of those two.
Only 5 of the 15 players on the first 3 teams are still in the playoffs.
To the guy who said Lebron half-assed the regular season, that is one way to look at it. You could also say that Ryan Hall half-assed the first 16 miles of his 2:08 marathon. Dirk was the guy who went out in 1:02 and dnf'ed!!
WOW!!!!!!!
Did you just see Baron Davis throw one down over Kirilenko?
That was amazing.
Steve Nash is not a real American. 1) He was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. 2) His nationality is CANADIAN
I think Rex Chapman is the greatest player in NBA history

I see. So the fact that Kobe is named to the first-team NBA All-Defense squad virtually every year means that he is not a great defender?
I must admit, the people on the LetsRun message boards who jump up on their soap box with the wrong facts really ARE an excellent source of entertainment!
jordan was considered the best defender in the league. kobe plays great d at times but then at other times is incosistent, just like how he is offensively. also, kobe does things like scores 40 points for weeks at a time then decides to become a point guard out of nowhere and doesn't shoot. inconsistent is what kobe is.

That may or may not be true, but it doesn't change the fact that what you said was extremely misleading.
You simply stated "...also, jordan was a great defender," implying that Kobe isn't. In the midst of all this, you conveniently omitted the fact that he is chosen for the NBA All-Defense first-team almost every year. That is rather conclusive evidence that he is a great defender.
You left out key facts in order to make your own opinion sound even stronger. That's not exactly a capital punishment offense, but don't start tap-dancing around the situation when somebody steps forward and calls you out on it. A concise statement like "OK, I was wrong on that part" would suffice.
