7:15 am: 3 miles easy with my dog, then after dropping him off by the house, hit the trails for a fun 8 miler. All on single track with lots of rolling hills, curves, and logs to jump. Felt like I was flying by the end.
5pm, 5 miles at 6:30-7:00 on an out-and-back, along a railroad track, Central PA
12 x (2min walk, 3min jog). Trying to come back from a tibial stress fracture but now having some pain deep in my upper leg which I hope is a minor quadricep strain and not a new stress reaction developing in my femur.

Fast kms, slow 30min. I bet there are many at your level who would "jog" much faster, perhaps unneccessarily, or, detrimentally.

read my mind skuj. those are quick 1ks, but a slow 30min run. you sure know how to take it easy on your recovery runs. i applaud you...run hard on the days meant to be hard, and run easy on the days meant to be easy. Good principle.
6 miles easy on the W&OD
am-4.5miles
pm-5miles + 6x100m strides

Discuss.
My run today?
What? A 35:48 run
When? Early afternoon, to beat the windstorm here.
Where? Neighbourhood.
How? 1/2 mile warm-up pace, solid for over 5 min., jog/run rec., over 10 min., solid pace, same jog/run rec., solid for 5 plus min. and eased run in. A 4 - 5 min. walk as part of cooldown. AHR 146 MHR 159 for run.
Why? As part of a lifelong fitness lifestyle, running is the best way to keep fit...I know thre are other ways but..why..because I still can run.
Young or old? If 59's old, I'm over 6 months away from turnin' 60.
Fast or slow? My running these days is 2 - 3 min. per mile slower than what it used to be 20 plus years ago. I plan to be running a min. per mile faster while averaging 140 HR...sounds like I haven't quite given up on ever racing again, maybe.
A really interesting thread discussing if & how many long term runners are still at it or had to give it up. eep that one going guys.

Not likely given your history.
I'm getting old. I am slow. I ran 3 miles yesterday and will lift today. I'm not enjoying running much at all these days. I'm glad I did it after I do it, but just not enjoying doing it much at all anymore. In all honesty if there were an easier more efficient way to exercise so that I keep the weight off, keep the heart strong and keep the blood pressure low, I'd probably do that. As it is, right now I'm running 4 days a week and lifting 3 days a week. Don't feel like running more than 6 miles at a time. But that's my feelings on it today. Maybe tomorrow I will change my mind.
I am in between the Boston marathon and a relay marathon leg up in Burlington, so I am sort of confused about my training. The marathon went well, but I have been really, really sluggish ever since. I have pretty much just been running easy every day, but I'd really like to rip a good leg up in Burlington in a couple weeks...
Anyway, I ran about 13 miles this morning, pretty easy, around the trails in DC. No one raced me today, but some dude in short red shorts and no shirt definitely was trying to race me yesterday around 5:30pm. He won!
