Recently on ESPN there has been alot of talk about this poll, basically finding that whites are more skeptical of Barry's accomplishments than blacks. Some went as far as Stephen A. Smith to say that many whites still discriminate against blacks, thus the reasoning for the poll results. To support his argument he cited Mark McGuire and his homerun chase. He said nothing was done then because "a bunch of white guys were in charge" referring to the steroid investigations.
I totally respect Mr. Smith's viewpoint but it is severely flawed. For starters, Sammy Sosa also broke Maris's homerun record that year and last time I saw Sammy was not a white dude. I don't think race had anything to do with the time of the investigations.
Secondly, I question Barry Bonds accomplishments only because he will not testify due to fear of incriminating himself (see NY times articel, May 5th)That is why I question barry right there. If he has nothing to hide then he should have no problem talking to an investigator. I don't think Barry should be in the Hall of Fame the same way I don't believe Rafael Palmiero, Jose Canseco, and Mark McGuire should not be in either. If Barry want my support, come clean with what happened and move on, period. Any thoughts??
