Were there any good performances this weekend in the British leagues? Any results?
according to ukathleics.net Glen Cornish went 8:42 in the steeple, Jimmy Watkins 1:49.99 in the 800, Jermaine Mays 3:50 to win A 1500, Thie 3:50 to win B 1500
Premier league distance races were pretty strong fields despite BUSA and being so early in the season. Belgrave 7th has to be the big story!
I heard that nicholls ran a solo sub 14 5km (13.58?) in the prem division. According to someone there he took it on from the gun and looked good-- sharp was second so looks like he has turned it round after relays. good first track race for both.
He led a big chunk but Wicks took it through the first k (2:47) at least
he led a lap mate then died! 14.24 i believe.
Nicholls for SBH? They have such strength in depth in the longer distance events with Rich Williams likely to be battling Comish in the s/c and Bannister capable of good 5k and 10k
Nichols would only join a club who's vest suits his hairstyle and tan.
Fair play to Phil, front run pretty much the hole way.
did he look good though, that's what matters.
wow- you can read me so well, the vest brings out the bronze tinge in my skin, and the way it is shaped compliments my hair style- you have found me out- damn.(same old tripe on here i see).
Moohead-- put your name down mate- come on, dont be a shy guy! anyways-- cheers sharpy, enjoyed the battle with you pal, hope training goes well over next few weeks 4 u- c u at lboro!! hope wicksy gets back firing too- great lad and look foward to future battles in the season with him. oooo better shoot-- the tanning bed is bleeping!
You're always good for an angry response phil, you didn't let me down.
i love you really x---- we should meet some time
Mays looked good in the div one match-- reckon his chase will be fast this year! is he going to chase?
I reckon the standard of Brit distance running will greatly improve this summer- im hoping it will be a breakthru year for our guys--- it has to be!! I think there will be some fast times on the endurance side.
Reasonable times in the A-string 5000 and some fast B-strings but what happened to the tail-end of the B-string 5000??? 17 minutes odd in a British League Premier match? What's going on there, I mean these are meant to be the best clubs in the damn country. No offense to the lads running as I'm certain they did their best and it's not their fault in the slightest but a little surprised that clubs couldn't get out a second runner a little faster?
Trollope did well though with a sub 15 clocking in his debut 5k and still u20.
Gareth Price also...don't usually hear a great deal about him but consistently running extremely well and winning races, with a 3:41 (I think?) last year could be dangerous on the domestic scene.
nicholls, what kind of taining are you currently putting in to kill off the competition, are you maintaining high weekly mileage?
Good luck and dig in man- work hard and enjoy the success!
He ran a good short leg at Sutton Park and has just laid down a good marker for the rest of the season. I expect Tom Humphries to be deadly over 1500m this season so hopefully they both kick on later in the season.
It is believed that Nicholls is cranking out a lot of quality sessions on the track at the moment. I think I read somewhere that he does alot of sessions wiht clubmate Martin Williams who is a beast on the roads.
Colin Sahlman runs 1:45 and Nico Young runs 1:47 in the 800m tonight at the Desert Heat Classic
