Hall's prize money was $20,000. $5000 for 7th place (ouch, for a 2:08:24) adn $15,000 time bonus for sub-2:08:30.

I'm sure he made at least that much in appearance fees.
he must have got some extra from his sponsor for that showing though, right?
His shoe company will give him a fat bonus. I'm sure when it's all said and done (appearance fee, prize $$$, bonus structure) he will have pocketed well over $100,000.

The big money is in his appearance fee and the Asics bonus. The real money will be in future appearances, especially American Marathons.
Hey, he's married to Sara...payment in full!

i doubt he got very much in appearance fees - NO ONE in the uk knows who he is.
However, next year, he will be offered a bit more.
It doesnt matter if the UK people know who he is, the americans do, and they all watched it online and checked the website.

They mentioned him plenty on the BBC during the race even before he moved into the lead pack.

Actually Bedford was very sweet on Hall. He was paid handsomely to show.
Ok. Dathan Ritzenhein got over $150,000 to run NY.
Ryan Hall is the real deal. He can look forward to many more big pay days (although NY will be getting all the USA's best on the cheap at the Olympic Trials). Race directors like the White Faces and Americans are clamoring for an American champ.
And he got way way more than $20,000 for his run today.
He'll take a big paycut at the Trials and that is one reason why guys like Goucher have hinted they make their debut elsewhere but money is not a problem for Ryan Hall.
before this marathon hall was an unknown at this distance (for obvious reasons) but now he is in the world class bracket and only 24? he is surely set for a very lucrative marathon career. great result for him, plus of course he could have up to 3 good shots at the olympic marathon.
2007 London Marathon Budget did not allow for much for an "uknown quantity" in American Ryan Hall. Remember, this race had Geb, Tergat, Lel, Limo, Baldini, Gomes dos Santos, Gharid, et al. Hall was given what Bedford could, but let's just say it was probably a littie more than airfare and housing, but not more than $20,000 in appearance fee.
His $$$ was made, post-race, in terms of his performance-based and incentive laced Asics contract. A Top 10 at a major marathon was a good start, but his sub-2:08:30 is what will bring in the six figures on contract alone.
Absolutely. He is 24. And the great Tergat and Geb and the 2004 Oly champ were winning big races when he was in elementary school. Do you think he will be running 2:08 in 2020?
Boston would give this guy a six-figure appearance fee to run. Boston is dying to have an American contend ala Bill Rodgers.

I never got why so many posters on here think she's hot. Other than the fact that she's fit, like every other elite athlete, how is she good looking? I didn't want to judge just based on race photos, but some months ago I finally met her in person and she's plain at best. So I don't get it, what's the deal? Was she really cute in high school or what?
The next non-Trials or Olympic marathon Hall shows up at, I'm sure he'll get $200,000 upfront
Man, you are crazy.....Sara is effing beautiful in everyway possible! Hall is one really lucky guy! Can't wait until 08' in China!

Thank you, that had to be said. I don't get it either. She's not ugly, but definitely nothing special. I can go for a 1-hour run right now and see 50 chicks I'd rather bang.
