Don't forget Sergey Lebid this guy has run 7:35 and 13:10, 3:45 is not a good run at all. As for De Souza this Hudson Santos De Souza who is a different guy from Hudson De Souza who has run 3:33. Santos De Souza's most notable race was a 1:49 800, still a poor run based on that.

Really, are you sure about that?
http://www.iaaf.org/statistics/toplists/inout=out/category=s/season=2003/index.htmlDe Souza fell over, saw it on eurosport - obviously jogged in.
Slatt has proven he is for real.It is rediculous to come down on him for this one race. If you want to come down on stember..you might have a case as he has been bumbaling around for years....But Slatt?? come on now. He'll get back to where he was. One bad run coming off an injury and the jurys out already?
It might be rediculous but let's not bumbal them for interent.
bumbal them for internet....? come again?
Brad Hudson is my hero. North Hunterdon alum along with Andy Martin, Anne Letko, Jodie Bilotta, Gavin Sloane and Nate Sisco ... not too bad for one school
is that ivy league education showing up here on letsrun?

With all due respect rojo being in the meet or not doesnt justify terrible perfomance. it is about high time that elite athletes think for themselves, gone are those days where athletes come up with excuses when they dont do well in a race. and when they perform well they never mention their injuries.....they go on and get an interview. however when they do bad they hide under their desk and they know that people like you will defend them
enough is enough
ccolenso, have you seen our friend rojo? I guess he has performed the internet tactic of criticize and hide. I wonder what the high schoolers think of that?
whats your point?
i an not hidding, this kinds of things happens all the time. Alen webb is a good example, i mean come on you and i know how good that kidd is but the way things have been going lately.......people keep on coming up with excuses eventhough they know that he is out of shape. people just don't want to believe that's the truth.
we nee to call it the way it is.
there are many things which makes me not to believe slattery"s claim, first of all if the guy was ready to run fast why did he pay all this money, and go through all the trouble to run in a small meet like that. he knew going to that meet that there was no way he was going to come any where near 8:15. now everybody including you are trying to justify it as if he was going to win the meet because the winning time was slower that what he told everybody that his is going to run.
dude, my balls itch.
I still canmnot belive that everyone is dismissing or not reading that he WAS banged up pretty good just 4 weeks ago..
and bashing this performance as horrible..pay attention for once please..
dear wejo, and rojo, and we-blows (that means "we'll be loyal scouts") and anyother canteen boy:
i've always scoffed at this board. it is just a medium for bullshit. but i scoff at you guys all the more. i still remember the tantalizing posting you made on your website's front page headling "is there an epo cheat in the ncaa??... click here for more unfounded bullshit."
this website is a braindrain. like a heavy narcotic such as coke or crack. rip on my name and you get a big bozak.
mmm. i smell pancakes.
dirty pimps still pimpin. nasty hookas still trickin.
defcon9. don't get too close or else you might get shot.
5-0 asked how he fleed from the spot? - in a black sports car- i think it was an iroc- but the windows were tinted and we couldn't get a look (why p?) there was smoke from the rubber he cooked.
the big payback!
j,j,j,jane. - haircut, like anita baker...
...you over did it holmes, you had too much too drink.
eh yo, this is frank B, signing off. don't drink and drive. aint nothin cool about chillin in a coffin six feet under.
RoJo "idiots often rip people based on results they know nothing about" Why not you take pot shots at runners every chance you get.
once you asses run anywhere near what Slatt just ran (on his "off day") then u can talk the absolute obsurd crap that you're trying to spill on these boards. how do u know he didn't re-injure his knee hitting a hurdle? you've got no clue based on written results. stop wasting your time puttin up crap and go out there and train...
Slattery is the best steepler in the country so anyone talking crap on him is an idiot because none of us can beat him.
The Steve Slattery and Brad Hudson bashers amaze me (this isn't directed toward those who simply disagree Slatt will run 8:15 this year). I'm referring to the overriding, unquestioning negativity which is symptomatic of what is wrong with the sport of track and field in the USA. First off, stop talking out of your asses--and take the time and make the effort to get your f***ing facts straight.
For one thing, Brad was interviewed right after Slatt won USATF nationals, so in that context, and the fact that Slatt had only raced once or twice prior to USATF, it stood to reason that Hudson thought Slatt wasn't close to peaking and had a chance at 8:15 this year in a fast race in Europe. Slatt ran an 8:23 off an 8:45 pace for the first few laps at USATF. What's so off-base about that 8:15 prediction in June? The article was stored and didn't run for a couple of weeks after the initial interview, so its context changed once Slatt got injured.
The constant anonymous bashing of runners who are putting their lives, their careers, etc., on hold to try for greater gain for the USATF, has gotten ridiculous. One slip-up at 8:55, and the guy was hurt for Chrissakes. Here is Steve Slattery, an up-and-coming U.S. runner racing and training his heart out, and you vultures rip on him the first chance you get.
And take Brad Hudson, a sharp guy, who postpones the fast career track in order to help coach an up-and-coming American runner or two, and all all you idiots can do is rip on him too. Brad knows his shit. He trained under Mark Wetmore off and on since he was 13. No wonder US running is so f***ed up, and no wonder no one gives a shit about it in the US. A bunch of whining, misinformed, bitchy wannabes who have little idea how hard it is to run a 13:11 for 5,000, an 8:23 for a steeple, etc.
If all you can bring is poison to the world of running, you are in the wrong sport altogether.
