If anyone should SHUT UP it should be Jackson and Sharpton.
Neither of them does anyone any good but themselves...who's kidding who?

Please. I'm embarrassed for Imus. The guy is such a has been that he attempts some pathetic ploy to stir up controversy and ratings. The guy needs to quit while he can still walk. Nothing lamer than an aging, irrelevant shock jock.

agreed, imus is just pathetic and totally disgusting to look at, I guess its good he's on the radio. I say FIRE HIM and put him out of his misery. In addition, his words about rutgers were totally out of line. "nappy headed ho's"? are you kidding, he should definately be gone!
Though we can't stand the stupid law suits by Sharpton and Jackson, Imus does need to go. The cowboy sucks and is a complete racist.
Sharpton and Jackson are the REAL racists, they make a living out of trouble.
Is Jesse keeping up with his child support payments?
Someon ask Sharpton how Tawana Brawley is doing these days, too.
If MSNBC drops Imus I will never watch that network again.

How are those things relevant to the situation at hand? Aren't those seperate issues? You're saying that because Jackson/Sharpton have issues in thier personal lives that Imus should be excused for making a statement that is both racially offensive and labels these athletes as whores?
I agree that Sharpton and Jackson are racist, but come on, Imus needs to go.
Imus is a dope, but I don't think he needs to respond to Sharpton or Jackson. If he thought the Rutgers team looked a certain way than why should he not have the right to say so. If people don't like it they can stop listening to his show.
Am I missing something? Did Imus do something they're not talking about, for which this 'nappy-headed hos' joke is a proxy complaint?
I have combed through that phrase, searching for dirty words, incitement to racial hatred, encouragement for sex perversion and pedophilia, etc. etc. And I can't find a thing.
If Howard Stern said the same thing we would have never even heard about it.
If you listened to the whole interview, you would understand the conversation. Totally racist remarks.
The reason why noone would give a second glance to Howard Stern saying something like this is because most people know Howard would be saying it in context of making fun at racists.
By the tone so far on this board the men here seems to be ok with calling fellow athletes whores on National Radio (TV)

Me too. I'm not sure if it was the "nappy-headed", or the "hos", or the combination. Would people find this offensive if Imus was black?
Imus is the best radio show host on radio, if you ever listen he is on top of issues that are ACTUALLY relevant, one being the Walter Reed hospital issue for veterans, got the retirement benefit for veterans changed and increased, has a ranch for kids for cancer, has implemented the autism inquiry. He acknowledges actual issues. It is not How he looks or How he speaks his words, it is the issues,If you ever listen he is extremely outspoken and as sarcastic (but with more intelligence) than some who e-mail letsrun. Why don't you listen and not judge his look, it was just a stupid mistatement of which he acknowledged and it DOING something about.
Listen to a randomly chosen rap album and you'll probably hear the word "ho" roughly two thousand times. Maybe it is the combination of the words "nappy" and "ho", but I think it's more the combination of the word "ho" and Imus' skin tone.

I get the whole ho/whore part, but somebody tell me what "nappy headed" means.
It means your head is nappy.
For someone in Imus' position, there's no such thing as bad publicity. That Sharpton wore a wire for the FBI, and that Jackson diverted funds from his nonprofit to pay off his babymomma, are beside the point. This is the best thing that could have happened to this irrelevant, aging shock jock.
I've always found it interesting that black folks have conversations in which every other word is the N word and ho and bitch this and that, yet when a white person uses the same language they are racists.
In reality maybe both parties are racists.
True, Imus should not have said what he did, but let's face it, when Sharpton and Jackson forbid Imus from saying something because of his skin color, THAT is classified as racism as well.
