So I've heard that if you take the race-provided (for registered runners) transportation to the start line of the Boston Marathon, you'll have to sit on your ass in the athletes' village for 2-3 hours waiting for the race to start. (And I'm a 10:30am start, so it could be even longer...) I'm cool with an hour long warm-up, but 120+ minutes?!? This seems excessive.
Questions, then:
(1) Is there anything to do in the athletes' village other than pick your nose and wait for an hour before starting to warm up?
(2) Is non-race-related transportation to the start line permitted? (e.g., getting a friend to drop me off an hour before) I heard they're pretty strict about not letting cars into Hopkinton on race morning, but a couple extra hours of sleep would ROCK.
