i was running quarters at a local university in southern california in 2004 one time. it was a saturday in the fall, and there was a soccer game going on at the time on the infield. i came by in lane one at 200m mark and this guy was standing there--i'm barreling down, and he doesn't move. i go outside to lane 2. during my recovery, i jog over and explain that i'm running 12x400m for time, and i'd like to use lane one. no big deal right? apparently, he HAS to stand there. he can't move 2 feet forward. so on the 3rd one, i'm right one the paint, and i kinda brushed him. i said sorry.
on the 4th one, he pushes me and i go flying. there were a lot of parents, and since he was black and i am white, i yelled, "hate crime! i'm running, minding my own business and this guy pushes me with the intention to cause bodily harm!" people start lookin at him, then me, and i keep saying this. and then i said some stuff like, "you are all eye-witnesses. remember this course of action--white runner gets attacked by black man." his wife saw the whole thing, got real mad at him, and she got in the car and left. i kept running, and everytime i came by, he gave me dirty looks. however, he stood on the grass on the infield after that. he left before my workout was complete, and i never saw him again.
