What is the fastest marathon you have seen on the least amount of mileage. I am attempting to run under 2:40 and have averaged 49.5m since January 1.

I don't believe you, unless you were a 31 minute 10k runner and jogged the marathon with no real training.

I know a guy who did 3:45 off of zero miles.
2:44 with only 5 weeks that broke 50 mpw in my training leading up to it.
2:52 26 mpw - 3 runs a week
My first marathon was run off 20-25 mpw, with a highest ever long run of 12 miles (the Sunday before the race). Of course, I only managed 3:35. It was painful. Very, very painful. I prefer not to think about it actually. Damn, you made me think about it. Damn you to hell! :-)
DUCK THE BULLSHIT WILL FLY ALL DAY ON THIS THREAD!
I ran New York (my first marathon) in 3:02 on an average of 25mpw. Biggest week was in the low 30s.
Used the FIRST Program for my most recent marathon. Ran a 2:42 averaging between 45-50 miles per week. I improved on my time versus when I was putting in 70 mpw. I would run 4-5 days a week and x-train on the other two.
that site is full of B.S.
Ran Boston last year in 2:50 on a max of 35 mpw. my longest run was 11 miles, and I ran 4 total runs of 10 miles in my buildup, well, not really a buildup.
PR is 2:43 chicago on 45 mpw. should have been faster but I smacked the wall around 22 trying to run 2:35... it hurt.

A 2:48 marathon is 4:00/km. Its not that tough. I had run 2:59 for my first one 6 months before in Aus.
