Yes it Boaz Chebioywo. The rumor had been floating around for months and now it is offical, Boaz wants to be a U.S.
citizen. The talented 24 year old with a 10000m best of 27:46 could be granted citizenship by the Olympic (expedited citizenship-rarely granted) but definitely for the 2005 World Championships.
It is only a matter of time before other top foreigners start seeking American citizenship, which is great for U.S.
Foreigners who recently recieved citizenship Colleen, Khalid, Meb, and Abdi* have already contributed to helping restore some luster to American distance running. With the upcoming runners (Tiffany McWilliams, Grant Robison, Daniel Lincoln), our veterans (Suzy, Regina, Alan C., Deena), and the *new Americans our future looks good. I look for a few other top foreigners to start applying for US citizenship after the Olympics, when it would be feasible to apply and have enough time to be granted citizenship before the next Olympics.
