I know I must have missed this but Why did Deena Kastor not go to Worlds? We seem to be attacking them men but she as well as several women did not go also.

American women are pussies... pretty much like the men.
She's doing that Boston thing for quite a bit of coin.
She wanted to travel to Japan to earn money at an Ekiden...then travel to Fla to earn money at the 15k. She knows she's not a contender for the win at world cross anymore so has gone after other money making opportunities.

Olympic marathon trials perhaps?
Not a contender at World Cross? Kastor raced Radcliffe to the line just a couple of years ago to capture the Silver in the 8K Long Race at Worlds. Learn your history.
I didn't see you make the trip...let alone qualify.
I'm not American.
My country sent a pretty full team, FYI.

A pretty full team and you still did not qualify.

That'd be next year, ought eight.
And we're talking about our most accomplished current distance runner, someone with an Olympic medal, a ton of national records and titles, several world team appearances ... Are we really going to second-guess Deena Kastor's decisions?
Didn't attempt to qualify either.
If I had, and had qualified, I would have definitely gone.
But I didn't, and this conversation is about Americans who qualified and didn't go.
Kastor ran in Boulder largely as a tribute to that city and its support of her in the past (especially at her Bolder Boulder appearances). She ran the USA 15K in Jacksonville as a legit record attempt and to have some fun with her Mammoth teammates in that Equalizer thing.
She has won in Chicago and London and hopes to add a Boston Marathon victory - which means more in the world of running, especially in the USA, than a World Cross country Championship would.
And yes, she's won medals at World Cross in the past, and led the USA to team medals. And there is that Olympic marathon medal that she also won representing Americans.
She doesn't have to apologize to anyone for her race selections.
While it is regrettable we did not have stronger teams in Mombasa, people have to get over this notion that runners who "qualified" are somehow evil and cowardly for not going to the Worlds. Many people had very legitimate reasons for wanting to go to Boulder and make Boulder's hosting the success that it was. Period.
About 3 weeks from now she has a pretty good chance to become the first American to win the Boston Marathon in a zillion years. Flying to Africa and running in a sauna might be less than conducive to achieving that goal. That's probably why all of the top 10 elite women running Boston, including Kenyans, skipped World Cross.

How does Boulder support Kastor other than providing here a payday? Follow the money, folks.
I actually forgot about Boston. That is an excellent reason...
if there is any american runner who ran usatf xc that is above second guessing it is kastor. like previous posters have said she has accomplished way more than anyone else in the field (men's and women's). if she wins in boston then everyone will forget about her skipping world xc. same thing goes for everyone else who skipped world xc.....if they light it up this spring/summer no one will care that they didn't go.
Thanks for fleshing that out for us Dee...I mean Dusty.
I know her history at worlds. But that was a few years ago. No way is she still a medal contender in it. Not sure about your claim that a Boston win means more than a worlds win in this country or elsewhere. That's your opinion.

I sure hope so. If they were dicks, they would get in trouble like that Czech javelin thrower a few years ago...
You can't POSSIBLY think that World Cross Country, which few people in this country even know exists, would mean more to Americans than a Boston Marathon victory would. You cannot possibly believe that.
You are right; my mistake.
