I am. 2:57 QT (New York) but just looking to finish. Have been injured for about 6 weeks and running very little at this time.
3:07:43, from my debut in Buffalo. That was off of just 10 weeks of very solid training, after nordic ski season. I'm just nervous that things will go wrong in Boston-- I've never run a race that big before, and I know the heat can come up and surprise you. I'd like to go as far under 3:00 as possible, but I am hoping for the best and expecting the worst.
3:03 QT, Chicago, age 51. Would like to break 3:00, can I do it?
sure you can! gotta run smart for the first 16 miles.
if you're ok on the downhills, Boston is a fast course.
but not flat like Chicago
Qualifying time: 2:41:12
Goal: 2:37:19
Qualifying: 2:40:50
Goal: Was 2:35 now 2:39. Had some problems but still in the hunt.
Qualified for 3:30. Was looking to run 3:20, but will be happy to just requalify at this point due to a bad winter.
My qualifying time was 3:43. I am hoping to beat 3:40. Woo-hoo.
QT = 2:58
Goal = 2:55 or better, training has been going exceptionally well, ready for a flyer on a good weather day.
13 timer...you sound familiar!
You know I'll be there, shooting for sub 3. Preferably 2:56
By the way are you busting out the Speedstar's again?
I forgot- I qualified with a 3:05:42
QT-3:19
Boston Goal-3:08
The Greater Boston Track Club will have a men and women's open team. Shooting for three men sub 2:30 and three women sub 3:00. We also have a masters men's team.
Tom
Qualifying Time: 2:49 at Chicago (PR)
Goal: 2:49 at Boston (which should be a tougher challenge due to more difficult course and likelihood of warmer weather?)
oh yeah, i put the II's away after Chicago to save them for Boston. i have 2 pairs of the I's to train in.
broke the II's back out for the 30k a couple of weeks ago and i'll wear them for some goal pace runs before race day
what kind of pace are you aiming for early? i want to hit just under 6:40's for the early miles.
i'm gonna try to get a 2:55 crew together (in corral #2) like i did for Chicago. had about 9 of us and results were pretty good on a windy day - couple of guys blew up but the rest of the groups' times were:
2:53:26
2:54:57
2:56:18
2:56:59
2:57:05
2:57:41
2:57:51
let me know if you're interested in pacing together
weather at Boston is truly a crap shoot. in the last 13 years, it's been warm (by my definition) only 4 times; 1999, 2003-5
folks who were out on the course for more than 3:15 or so would add 2002 as a warm year
if you run smart on the downhills early and through the hills, Boston is not much slower - maybe 1 to 3 minutes.
Damn, you guys are all really slow.
