not all that excited.
insert emo kid joke here.

haven't you pirated it off the interweb already?
I am not very excited
Arcade Fire=Not Emo
Arcade fire does=Awesome
I am excited, especially cause I may get to see them live.
Listening to it--the actual CD not some pirated crap--right this minute. It's no Funeral, but that's not a complaint as much as an observation. I did spring for the deluxe CD from the record company which includes a poster and some really trippy flip books. All in all, it's pretty kick-ass.
I got to see them live in February during their NYC shows from the second row. It's been a good couple of weeks for me, no doubt.
i've been listening to that piece for two months. it doesn't have any tracks as good as Rebellion(lies), but overall its more consistent than funeral.
Arcade Fire is just another indie flavor of the month for kids who seek coolness but don't really have the discriminating taste yet to separate over-hyped bands from bands that deserve the acclaim. The guy smashed his guitar on SNL. Guess that alone puts him right up there with Townsend and Cobain.
The Arcade Fire are going to get really big here I think. This has to be the most anticipated indie record in a decade. It's a good thing too, there is probably no other band more deserving.
The Arcade Fire are not another indie flavor of the month because that implies they are all hype and have no substance. Funeral was one of the top albums of this decade and while Neon Bible isn't quite as good, it will still rank in the top 10 for 2007. Maybe if you just found the band this past couple of months but if you've actually been paying attention to music the past 4 years, you'd realize that the Arcade Fire are not a flavor of the month. They're one of the most interesting and critically acclaimed bands around today and they have been for several years.
Very nice--I'm jealous. I have to wait till tomorrow.
And I don't think of myself of being any cooler for liking the Arcade Fire...I just like good music and I think anyone who gives the band a listen would agree they are very good.
One good tune on "Funeral". The rest all sounded the same. I appreciate their spirit and am interested as to why they are so acclaimed in live performances. But it seems doubtful they will be impactful five years from now.
Un, deux, trois, dit miror noir! Black mirror!
The live show is incredible. Saw them a few weeks ago at the fédération nationale ukrainienne here in their hometown. Half of them were practically on their death beds, but they put everything into their performance. Relating it to running, they are definitely marathon musicians. And I've never been to a show where the audience is so respectful and adoring, it was the strangest thing. You know when you see footage of Michael Jackson performing abroad and all the Japanese girls are like convulsing and crying and freaking out? Arcade Fire fans at these shows have to struggle to keep those urges inside. They're that good.
Christ, the album is amazing. Darker, and chock full of political allegories for the kids..
I adore Funeral. I'm mortified that this might suck. Does it, all ye people who somehow manage to hear albums before release date?

I would never chastise anyone who dislikes Funeral. But what you have said makes me wonder if you actually listened to Funeral, or some other CD by mistake. Funeral is SOOOOOOO not "sounded the same".
I have had Neon Bible for a few months now, and I must say it is better than Funeral.
I worry that they will run out of steam, but they haven't as of yet.
We'll see.
I have not seen them live, but imagine it would be a good show.
I hear that the lead singer is an asshole.

Just listen to the music. Not to everyone's taste, I guess. But I'm more excited about this band than I have been about anyone in the last ten years.
7/10 songs on Funeral and 9/11 songs on Neon Bible I like. Funeral has better singles, but overall I like Neon Bible better.
Too much on politics & religion with the new album. Band needs to do what they're good at, playing music. No one cares about the bands philosophy crap. Makes me want to yawn.

So, they've become U2 then?
:)
the butler's are mormons. thats the background they come from. any good artist who comes out of that inevitably express that into their music.
I havent listened carefully enough to the lyrics to know what the songs are particularly about, BUt this album is great, have been listening to it for a few weeks now and I love it. There are some cracking songs on there and i Think i prefere it to Funeral.
Along with Patrick Wolf I am listening to this album a lot at the moment. Patrick Wolf still slightly more though.
