Agreed- the whole point behind the minimalist thing is that motion controlled giant cushion shoes and orthotics weaken your feet and lower legs by not allowing them to work like they were intended to. The point of the Frees is to give that natural motion a fighting chance- putting orthitics in them will not only shorten the life and decrease the usefulness of the orthotics, but will also take away from that natural motion. That is why you have to work into the Frees slowly, so you can follow that natural motion without doing too much. If you want a more minimal, flexible shoe to wear orthotics in, try out some racing flats- they give your foot more support than the Frees do, and they give the orthotics a fighting chance.
