My paper is just a weekly, but we live near Stanford and they had a monster story on Hall.

Any A.P. or Getty press photos ? Or were the amateur race photographers only there.

Minneapolis paper gave a shout out to Carlson and Lehmkuhle but made no mention of Hall at all.
Then where\'s the press interest ? Seems to be after the fact, all belated. Wonder how that will pan out in future races.
Who was there ? Were there any real press correspondents and photojournalists there at the race reporting ? The A.P., Reuters, A.F.P, Getty ? I've read alot of 2nd hand articles, and after the fact interviews of Hall crafted in the comforts of home, but it seems the real press wasn't actually there and were not interested at all. There's only amateur reports and snap shots from running fans, parents, and hobbyists. What a sad state of affairs running is in if that's all the real press thinks of us.
1) Unexpected performance, with virtually no drama, just clicking off crazy fast miles
2) Non-major event, little press representation
3) Distance infrequently run at the elite level-how many runners even knew who Mark Curp was?
4) non-mainstream sport at the pro level.
Add it up=little or no mainstream coverage. This one was for hardcore afficianados, everyone else will have to wait at least until Hall's first big race (Boston, World's, whatever).
Boston/Chicago/New York/other marathons are local events, only a few elites race, there is some national press coverage, not as much as the worlds. Marathons will never gather that much interest as long as it remains mostly a community run. They will have to change it and have only the elites run, which is cost prohibitive due to the lack of sponsor funds, but is the only way true sports fans will see marathons as a true sporting event.
Shut your trap. Just be grateful that some parents got some good pictures that was up on the home page a few days ago. Digital cameras take super pictures now.
