Well, what do you think 12.55 V 59.43? Im still leaning toward Mottram, due to his consistancy and equally insane times. But Hall totaly shocked me today. I would never have guessed he was even capable of such insanly dominant racing.

Okay I'll say Mottram, cause the guy beat Bekele, has run consistent 12:50's for like the last 3 years. And has run with the best.
But when it comes to fastest times I'll say Hall.
Mottram beat bekele. Hall did not.
Both are incredible talents, no doubt. But look who Hall gets to lay down beside every night.
Hall wins.
Mottram is obviously far more accomplished at this stage and he'd probably beat Hall over 5,000 or shorter nearly every time. But if this 59:43 holds up as legit, it means Hall might just have as much potential for competing with the world's best, albeit maybe in different distances than the ones Mottram runs.
Sarah=totally average. That aside I think Halls performance today-by himself is as good as any of Mottrams. Craigs 3rd at worlds is his best card (I know hes run faster times but taking it to the Africans was increadible). Its actually a really close call but I would give this, at the moment, to Mottram as he has run a wide range of insanely fast times as well as stepping up in championship situations. A couple more big races from Hall, including another AR would put him above Motts in my books.
Mottram V Hall head-to-head road 10k. I think I just lost it. Im off to change my undies.

wow, you really need to get laid.
"Mazungo Madness" : a showdown at 10,000 this year? National records likely would fall!
Is this a serious question? Mottram hands down. I think someone mentioned that this run ranked slightly ahead of Kennedy's 5k record. Personally, i don't give it that much credit. Even if it did convert to this so called 12 56, Motram is still faster in comparison. On top of that he has runa 3:48 mile among other things. This comparison almost seems silly. I've always been very sketical of these half marathon courses. I might be biased cuz I'm more of a track guy, but wasn't there huge controversy surrounding one of Tergats road records.(mismeasurement) Anyway Tergat has the WR, yet not even he has done anything on the championship stage. And what is Tergat talking about when he says nobody can run fater ever? That is one of the most ridiculous comments ever. Someone wasn't even that far behind him. He ran an amazing time because the corse is ridiculously fast. This is why marathon records aren't as legit as track records. I just rambled alot. Bottom line: Motram is FAR superior.
I would have to say that would be one of the greatest match-ups of our generation. My pick would go with Hall right now....not sure how his kick would match up against Mottrams, given his mile speed and reported solo 1.45 8hundy.
Maybe throw Ritz and Websta in the mix. Comparative to the Scott-Ovett-Cram-Coe era.
>>Anyway Tergat has the WR, yet not even he has done anything on the championship stage.
Are f***ing stupid? Two Olympic silver medals, bitch. Only beaten by the best distance runner to ever grace this planet, who by the way, is the current mother f***ing world record holder in the half marathon.
bitch slap,
what on earth are you talking about? please learn some language in written format and repost...hell, post in german if you have to but at least make it cogent and understandable.

I meant in the marathon. It is well known the swifter Geb owned Tergat in the 10k time and agian, just as Mottram would wipe Hall of the track in a 5 and probably a 10k, thus Mottram is superior. Btw, Geb was only slightly better than Tergat really, the races were always exciting, Mottram would stomp Hall, im sorry, its just the truth. I actually think Hall would be at the advantage in the 10k , but Mottram is so much more gifted he would still find a way to keep up and leave him in the finish.
I think that 10,000 would be the perfect meeting ground: in the 5000, Buster's speed is too dangerous, but over the 25 laps, Hall could take the starch out. Of course we are looking at Hall as a 20K guy, but that is only 'cause he hasn't taken a shot at 10K yet. If he ran near 27:00 Mottram would be pressed, for sure.Throw in the others- but don't forget Teg, even Fam. And that German Euro champion. Half a dozen Mazungos under 27:30?!?!??

How many times has Mottram ran in the 12:50's?

Did you just compare Hall, RItz, or Webb to Coe, Cram or Ovett?????? Hall ran out of his friggin' mind, and I am still blown away by his performance, but until I see some gold medals or a 3:46 mile or a performance worth a 1:41 800, or a world record that stands for nearly a 1/4 century(like Coe's), PLEASE don't compare our top current guys to the ALL-ALL-time greats Coe, Ovett, and Cram. Especially Ritz.
Mottram hands down. Hall needs to run head to head with the best in the world before we can say he is onr of the best in the world!!!! A road time is not nearly as credible as a track time. Think about how many people rip that 4:30 miler guy for saying terget is better than Geb. This si so much worse because Hall does not even have a WR, he has only performed this well once and it was on a road. And finally an American record does not nearly as meaniungful as a world record. And finally Mottram would have a few American records
Mottram's run
12:55.76 for 2nd on 30.07.2004 (outkicked by Geb)
12:56.13 for 2nd on 22.07.2005 (outkicked by Bekele)
12:58.19 for 2nd on 20.03.2006 (outkicked by Choge )
59:43 is incredible but Hall needs to shore that up with some other solid placings/times before he is on Mottram's level.
Hall has:
59:43 HM
57:54 from World RR where he came 11th.
13:16
Mottram has:
Bronze at Worlds.
Won World Cup twice, once beating Bekele.
Three top ten finishes at WXC.
3:33 - 3:48
7:32 twice
12:55 - 12:56 - 12:58
Beat Tergat on the roads.
