Meeting my girlfriend's parents for the first time. Invited over for dinner and I would like to bring some wine. I am young and sort of on a budget. Any suggestions?
Man, I've seen a wide range of suggestions here. Red wine preference can be a very personal thing. Unless they are seasoned wine drinkers and know what they like, trying to pick a red wine will probably be a crapshoot. If you want a good recommendation that most people will like, wine drinkers or not, get a nice large bottle of Beringer White Zinfandel. Costs $10-$12, you can find it anywhere, and when nice and cold goes great with most meals. Sure, the wine experts will tell me I'm committing a cardinal sin if I have white zin with fish (or is it steak? who knows, or cares). It's a nice wine that's slightly sweet and leaves you satisfied. Make sure you get Beringer though, cheaper bottles don't taste nearly as good.
