I heard this real quick on the news, and that Puma's stock was up this morning, but can't find any info on any market websites. Is this true?

I'm pretty sure it was Reebok that bought Puma a few weeks ago.
Adidas own Reebok
Hmmm....the Puma Pre Series shoes. Sounds like a winner!
i heard la gear is buying out nike and the new la gear kennedys with have lights that flash on the heel. they come with laces or velcro.
in fact i just put in a 20 mile run in the la gear kennedys. i'm a wear tester and all. and the velco model is sweet. just wait till you see the la gear pre flashers available with pre lives inscribed on green and yellow velcro.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Ooh whoops. I didn't mean it to make the thread all funny. I seriously hope they don't.
If true, they must really miss Bob Kennedy!
The only "big" news is that Lotto bought Etonic.
That would suck ass.
That would be one more brand that I would stop wearing.
But I guess it makes sense, Nike buys every brand out there that has "street cred" that it can and ruins the line.
Pro Player, Bauer, CCM & Cooper hockey skates and equipment, converse, whoever made those original "hoodie" puffed up jackets, etc, etc. I know there are many more, but that is all that came to mind.
That's a backwards way to get Kennedy back in their mix.
Someone must stop this, we can't have Nike selling out Pumas character so that more short fat kids buy their shoes, and the real runners suffer.

Could not have said it better myself.
Could you go further in depth on "ruins the line" because if Hurley, Starter, and other brands that Nike has bought that generate roughly 2 billion a year in sales is "ruining" a line, I think thats pretty good.

"Ruins the line" as in no more originality, no more fresh ideas, no more small companies trying to make the best product they can, more corporate bottom line thinking.
Ask any hockey player who has been around long enough, which do they prefer, CCM or Nike? Everyone I know loved the true CCM gear and skates.
Hurley...didn't know Nike owned them. Starter...pretty much floating at the bottom of the barrel aren't they? Remember the "Starter jacket"? Now it is the Nike "Classic reversible hoodie".
I don't think Nike has any thing to due with CCM.
Reebok owns CCM and the Hockey Company
