What's the deal with every decent marathon in the world selling out 2 months beforehand. That's a crock of brown gooey liquid. Are there really 20,000 people just itching at the chance to run Houston? Crap.

I know what you're talking about. The Indy Mini-Marathon sold out on the 27th. The race is 35,000 people, and is in May!
The Indy Mini always sells out early. I believe it's the largest Half-Marathon race in the country, if not the world. I didn't really know Houston was such a big marathon race. It doesn't really have a big name like Chicago, New York, Grandmas, Boston, ect. Booooo. I guess I could always do Rock 'n Roll in Arizona. Looking for a winter marathon between Jan. 7th-28th Anything later would tread on my Boston plans. Houston was really the only one I knew were there's be a good chunk of guys running 2:25-30.

Houston is a big city with lots of people. I think you can be a "big marathon" without "big" names running there. I would guess 98% + do not care at all if a big name is there.

Oh, I reckon a good third of the crowd signed up with the expectation of rubbing elbows with Runningalan, and will be crushed to learn of his absence.
