I am a female runner who has been in the sport for six years and in the process of working my way up to a long run of 18-22 miles from a previous one time high of 14 miles and a normal long run of 10 miles.
For those of you who go longer ie)18+mile long runs, on a regular basis, I am wondering, how do you go about recovering from them? When running for 2.5-3 hours continously how often/how much do you drink/eat within the run?
I would love to hear from anyone willing to share their favorite refueling formula/post race meals. i know a turkey sandwich and a gatorade is fine for the shorter distances but i have struggled with recovery at longer distances and would really like to hear what people have to say. thanks!
