FACT: Ohio State allows everyone in, so does Indiana, Rutgers, Fresno State, Penn State, etc. In the midwest, who goes to Notre Dame, Catholics and football players. I never heard of any smart kids, Asians, and SAT/ACT/APD commandos dying to get into Notre Dame.

People love to rag on Notre Dame, but they at least have proper student athletes, not criminals in waiting like Ohio State, Miami, Florida State and USC. Yeah, their student athletes are so good that they have to force them all into a FORCED 2-hour study hall every night. In other words, they would be failing out, according to the administration, without some pushes along the way...

Take away USC from ND's schedule and it's STILL far tougher than Wisconsin's.

Forget about the fact that the Big 10 is extremely weak this year and that they didn't even play the best team in the league. Look at their OOC schedule:

2-9 San Diego State

5-6 Western Illinois (1-AA)

4-8 Bowling Green

2-10 Buffalo

Army would kill these teams and everyone rips on ND for playing them (this was the first time since 1998 that ND played Army).

Wisconsin is not as good as ND this year and ND had a far better team last year.

NOBODY, even hardcore ND fans, considered them title contenders this year.

Case closed? Yeah, case closed that ND gets chosen too early in their bowl game and are overmatched because every bowl wants ND ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$).

Which conference? Big 10? weak. Big East? weaker. ND plays a top 10 schedule every single year because they always play Michigan and they always play USC. ND is willing to schedule any team in the nation. They just love to claim "conference obligations" as an excuse to not play them.

You're right. Those schools do let anyone in. They have minimal academic standards. Notre Dame only accepts smart people.

I wasn't saying Wisco was a better team than ND, simply that Wisco won't fill a BCS bowl slot, which means that a team ranked below them (such as ND) will get it.

It's not uncommon for there to be 4, or even 5 ranked teams in the Big Ten. As much as the Big Ten teams would consistently like to schedule tough out of conference opponents, is it really neccesary? Pity poor Penn State who had to play Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin this year. Not much fun playing three teams that will finish the season ranked in the top ten. They're probably the best four loss team in the country, but oh well.

Look. ND is deficient in two major areas that will be fixed in the short term.

Real speed at wide receiver , and same thing for cover corners, how long do you think it will take Charlie Weiss to fix this, not very.

Thats only 5 guys he needs to get, who can get into ND.they are out there.

As for the academics, some folks are making me laugh, there are very very few Football powers that have ND academia requirements, look it up.

Stanford stinks anymore in football, it has been a while since they have been that good. UM is a great school, who gets it done, but they are a monster school size wise, so FB players represent less than .5% of student body, no one cares what their grades are/were.

gotta love all the ND haters out there. I think it's interesting how 2 years ago, most experts were saying that ND would never be relevent again because their schedule is too tough. Now that they're good, their schedule is too weak. Gimme a break. Their schedule is not the toughest in the country, but which teams really have a much tougher one? Any team who schedules a 1-AA team is out of the question, so which teams really have it so tough? ND beat the possible ACC champ on the road, the #4 and #5 Big Ten teams, plus Mich St, which is usually a respectable program. Nd beat UCLA, currently #4 in the Pac-10, and the service academies are not pushovers either, just ask Tennessee, or Tex A&M, (or Baylor). UNC is a joke, as was Stanford this year, but again, which teams have it so tough? ND went 10-2, losing only to top 3 teams. Of course thet deserve a BCS bid.

Using the Pac-10 as a basis for academic comparison, USC could not hold Stanford's (or Cal-Berkeley's) jock. Notre Dame is on par with Washington State (academically).

I don't want to interrupt your uninformed bitch-fest here but you seem a little unclear on the point. Although Notre Dame academically is a very good school, the point being discussed was the academics of the football players. Notre Dame has the 3rd highest student athlete graduation rate of all D1A and D1AA NCAA schools with 95% of athletes graduating (behind only Navy with 98% and Boston College with 96%). Higher than Stanford and MUCH MUCH higher than USC.

The Graduation Success Rate of Notre Dame from 1996 to 1999 of Football players was 95%. By comparison, USC's rate was 55%. That's right, 40% lower

Stanford does a lot better with a 94% rate for football players. But then again, Stanford football's record this year is 1-7, the cellar of the Pac-10. They've scored 57 points all year

Then clearly from the data you had no clue about, ND would be the perfect choice since if they go there thy might actually GRADUATE!
