SUCKS
SUCKS
This sums it up very nicely.
I'm a Notre Dame fan, but simply put; they just don't have the talent right now. Weis has done some great recruiting, but it won't take effect for another year or two. The offense has some good players and it shows. However, the defense is overmatched. They aren't fast and they aren't talented. I think things will change with the heavy recruiting being done by the current staff. This year they are not a great team. They are a good team, but not a great one. As for the BCS, well they will get in because they can bring the fans.
Don't worry, I hear ND loosened their academic standards a little bit so now maybe you can get better athletes there.
No worries. I heard Weis is planning on scheduling a bunch of games against D2 and D3 teams next year, so the boys will get the recognition they all dream of when they sign on to play in South Bend...
overrated blowhards
nd CHOKES IN THE BIG GAMES
My sister did some post graduate work at USC several years ago and as part of her scholarship requirements she tutored English...to the football team. She was shocked that half of them could barely read or write.
People love to rag on Notre Dame, but they at least have proper student athletes, not criminals in waiting like Ohio State, Miami, Florida State and USC. If every school held theit football team to the same academic standards, Notre Dame would be perennial national champions. Good for them for not compromising.
Academic standards? Who cares? People tune in to see football players score touchdowns, not solve algebra problems. Notre Dame just isn't that good and should not be in a bowl game.
Notre Dame shouldn't even be in a bowl game? That's pretty harsh.
ND is academically a mediocre school. In comparison schools with both great football programs and academics are Stanford and USC, amongst others.
ND football had it's place decades ago in the days before cable, FOX, Sportschannel provided a regular T.V. outlet for every college and high school team. Today with 500 channel cable, satellite, and ADSL, ND is passe.
ND has been a revolving door for failed coaches. ND's current coach is ineffective as a football tactician. Perhaps you can blame the fact that ND as an institution is a failure at attracting top prospects, the majority of whom are genuinely interested in a college education.

Was Kim Dunbar an academic advisor?
If academics or the concept of the student athlete are maningless to you why do you bother watching college football period. Watch the pros, you'll see a higher standard of football with the same lack of academic standards.
ND is so passe that they are the #1 topic of discussion on just about every sports chat page including this one.
And how many Super Bowl rings does that "failed" Coach Weiss have again???
N.D. last won an NC when ? Before the players were born ;-)
An NCAA Championships would snuff out N.D.'s t.v. contract. It would even the playing field. No longer would 12 historic teams control the N.C. OSU, USC, LSU, Mich, Florida, would not be in the running every year any longer. Kids and coaches would go to other schools if they thought they had an equal chance.
You'd never catch my fat ass in a hoodie and sweat pants on game day.
They'll get a BCS bid, probably the one that should have gone to Wisco. Wisco doesn't get a BCS bid because there can't be more than 2 teams per conference in the BCS bowls, and Ohio State and Michigan are ranked higher than Wisco. So Wisco at #8 or whatever will lose their BCS slot to some other team below them.
To USC and Ohio State grads. We don't have to worry about our losses,
after graduation we will be your bosses.
Question: What does a USC grad say at their first day of work?
Answer: Welcome to Mc Donald's, may I take your order please.

And you're the boss because daddy said you're the boss. Just like daddy paid for his snotty kids ND education.
ND is 0-8 in their last eight bowl games. CASE CLOSED. they're overrated. Either join a conference and play by the rules or no bowl for you!
They've beaten nobody this year. I can't believe they were title "contenders" until this weekend. please.
If they joined a conference, such as the Big Ten for example, they wouldn't be able to beat up on the military academies every year.
ND football = lots of money to be made.
True they are not that good this year. However any BSC/Bowl game ND will be put in, the TV revenues will be higher than any other game other than the BSC championship game (probably).
It doesnt matter if it is pro sports or college sports, money guides everything. So people complaining just suck it up and if you are so discouraged just don't tune into the game.
