Do they have any decent marathoners? Who is the fastest this year? And where was it run?

They have a very good Marathoner named Danny Kassap. When Mandingo sees this thread he will tell you more about Danny.

No comment there.
One day you're up and the next day you're down
You can't face the world with your head to the ground
The grass is always greener on the other side, they say
So don't worry, boys, life will be sweet some day
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
We made enough mistakes
But you know we got what it takes
Oh, we ain't got nothin' yet
No, we ain't got nothin' yet
Nothin' can hold us and nothin' can keep us down
And someday our names will be spread all over town
We can get in while the getting is good
So make it on your own, yeah, you know that you could
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
We got to make the break
'Cause we got too much at stake
We made enough mistakes
But you know we got what it takes....
What, to be a Pilgrim, or an elite marathoner?
Or a total a-hole ???
Just to round out your choices...
Currently there are NO good Canadian marathoners. We need some 28 min 10k guys moving up. Not much hope with guys barely running 30 minute 10k's.
bairu will eventually move up... probably not till 2008 though. he'll be a 2:08ish type i think.
Yes that makes sense because the marathon is just a 4x 10kms workout.
Doesn't PIH stand for Pathetic Inept Homo-Sapiens?
I mean really....
Jon Brown and Steve Osaduik and Jim Finlayson and
David Jackson and Nik Southwell and Adam Campbell and
Todd Howard and Dave Milne and Eric Kiauka and Eric Findlay and Paul O'Callaghan and Scott Simpson and
Lucy Smith and Tina Connelly and Judith LeRoy and Nancy Baxendale and Cheryl Murphy and Kate Sloan and Meghan
Day and Nancy Tinari and Joan McGrath and about 500
other losers ....
Not to mention that all the top Nat.Tri.Gang choose to
run with PIH when they can, because they feel that is
where they are welcomed as runners...
So add Simon Whitfield and Kyle Jones and Colin Jenkins
and Carolyn Murray and Natasha Filiol, and a whole bunch
of other great athletes...
PIH, indeed...
Ron,
Why do you insist on name dropping all the time (Milne doesnt even run anymore, and JB is awesome but isn't Canadian). Hey by the way didnt Kajaks beat PIH at the BC xc senior mens race?
1) Milne finally had knee surgery on Friday. He may or may not run at the top level again .... time will tell.
But he is, and will be a proud PIH member and supporter.
2) JB is a long-time Canadian resident and a Canadian citizen, and may or may not race for Canada in the future.
But he is proud to train or race with PIH guys whenever it fits in... Ask him if he feels he has more support from PIH
than he's ever had from PacSport and BCA and AC.
Sorry about the names .... their parents chose them !!!
The Kajaks are great, and Bomba and Hayden and Ziak and
Johnson (sp.)and I get along well at all the races, and
talk about training and racing as we can...
However, we can all agree the little local Rec.Running Club in Victoria is indeed the Pathetic Inept Homo-sapiens.

See! Just like I said before. The p.i.h. club has hundreds of elite marathoners. I knew you would back me up Ron. Thank you eh?
Why are you calling it pathetic inept homosapiens? WTF?
PIH is nothing but a name because the people who run for PIH have loose ties at best (in most cases). and you know it.
I love PIH and what they do for vancouver island running don't get me wrong. we would be nothing on the island without them.
but ronb, dropping all these names? let's look at some race results for any other race and see who these guys are running for.
UVic, Frontrunners, Tri-Centre, Pen-Runners...
Steve's 2:16 was pretty hot this year though, can't deny that.
Did kajaks beat PIH at BCs... i guess that's without PIH's call ups, but I bet Kajaks repeat at nats too....
Okay,,time out everyone.
Normally I'm a non-confrontational guy.
I tried to get this thread banned especially with that missive directed to me earlier on this PM, but, guess the administrators have turned in early.
Anyhow. No harm no foul even if I am a donkey's poop chute..
Seems like there is a silver lining in this thread after all in that more interest will have been sparked for the U.S. readers/runners regarding this up & coming x-c Kajaks vs the PIH
Thanks for giving me the chance, Ronb to elaborate on this. Most indebted.

Take a look at these links.
I have no opinion one way or the other about WHO runs under the Prairie Inn Harrier (PIH) colours and HOW they came to BE running in this status.
That old Blues Magoos 60's tune I'm always reminded of when one or two newer members to the club first got interested in running, then in taking over the club management, then now practically run running from top to bottom of Vancouver Island...me I'm just happy enough to be the Victoria, B.C., Canada runner here on this message board.
bump.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
