With Prefontaine, Salazar, Chapa, McChesney and Hill, how can they possibly be beaten?
Oh, wait. These are fantasy predictions right?

The Buffs haven't been out of the top 5 this decade. They won't fall out next year. As far as Iona and the other "Kenyan" Teams go, it's unlikely they will improve. Lots of "Kenyan" Teams have came and gone since UTEP in the 80s, none have totally dominated as UTEP did. This is mostly due to the college "system" wearing down the athlete who is already at top condition and doesn't need four years of improvement.
1. Oregon (Rupp gets the 1 pt score)
2. Colorado
3. Iona
4. Wisconsin (Will be ranked #1 all year)
Notes: UofL will inch it's way into the top 10, may even win the BEast. They need a front runner.

I agree, with the exception of U of L inching their way into the top 10. They performed about as well as they could Monday.

How can the young Buff's look up to a Miler [Pifer] to lead them in distance?
I'll take a guess. Maybe because he's a veteran who executes the CU race plan better than anyone and who, as a result, has had some excellent finishes. Maybe because they'll see his A-A certificates when they go to his apartment. Maybe because he's a hell of an XC guy, regardless of his spring distance.
Yup, but UofL returns their top 5 and will be top 10 next year. Michael Eaton will be their #1 runner by the end of XC 2007. Kid won Footlocker South and had the top 5k time in the country. Each team in front of them from 10-14 loses 2 seniors save for Okie State and BYU...which lose 1. UofL has the most to gain...provided everyone stays injury free.

virginia?
1. Oregon
2. Iona
3. Wisconsin
4. UTEP
5. Oklahoma State
6. Arkansas
7. Colorado
8. Stanford
9. BYU
10. Alabama
Of course Oregon will win it next year. Rupp will win individually. Shady will be healthy and get top 10, diego is just a flat out stud, a former UW runner will roll out (if you don't know who that is you'll have to wait and see) and be All-American for sure. And with guys like Acosta, Trujillo, Klotz, Issac S., etc. Nobody's gonna be able to touch the Ducks.
After this year I don't know how anybody can put Colorado out of the top 5. But is is possible I suppose.
BTW where is the 2007 edition being run??
Terre Haute again.
Portland will be back in the top-10.
i really like you predictions...needed a little more research....and you definitly need to look at the teams that blew up this year. I can name a few that should be ranked higher or lower.
I would def drop william and mary out of the top 10. them running as well as they were capable of long with the combination of a lot of other teams blowing up allowed them to make top 10.
You are leaving out UTEP, who will not make the same mistake twice, along with the team that probably blew up the worst, Georgetown. wow, what a shit show that was.
Also, don't count arkansas to be that low. and don't count NC state to be that high
Not bad predictions, but there's a key team that will be on the rise in the next few years:
SYRACUSE

i don't disagree with your point, but they were 6th in 2003.
7th 2005
6th 2003
and you can't give me any BS about not having talented teams.

virginia loses their top 2 and were lucky to finish as high as they did. look for a drop off next year.
I hope to see the hogs back next year, but maybe their talented team's mental focus isn't up to what it has been in the past.
We heard the same stuff about Bobby Mack last year. Wait until 2006 when Mack and Smith are back from redshirt.....
Well, where was Mack this year? He's definitely talented and would be a huge help to the NC State team, but it seems more likely that he will be injured again than out on the course leading the team.
don't overlook my alma mater, we are recruiting in Kenya and will have 5 studs all with the last name of Biwott or Kiprigat.
The same Alabama that was last this year will all of a sudden make the top 10? How does that work?
My Penis will win!
